eeepc 900, hardy, touchpad

Buongiorno a tutti.

Ho finito ieri di installare ubuntu hardy 8.04 su un eeepc 900.
Sono riuscito a configurare tutto e sembrava tutto perfetto finchè stamattina non ho deciso di disattivare il tapping del touchpad e installare gsynaptic.
Ho provato con queste modifiche su /etc/X11/xorg.conf (oltre che sudo apt-get install gsynaptic da CLI):

Non è cambiato niente, quindi da buon novellino del mondo linux mi sono messo ad investigare e ho scoperto che (credo) il touchpad non è riconosciuto correttamente.

Al momento del cat al pc era connesso anche un mouse logitech wireless.

Inoltre il comando lsmod | grep synaptic restituisce un output vuoto.
