ubuntu 8.04 funziona tutto ma boot molto lento

ciao è un pò di giorni che mi rode x la testa questa domanda...
ma il boot di ubuntu sul mio notebook è ok??
mi spiego meglio il boot dal momento che appare la scritta con il logo ubuntu è + di un minuto, circa 1 e mezzo fino al login. poi dopo il login passano altri 40 sec buoni x avere il pc usabile, cioè prima che carica xbene il desktop. che mi dite, anche a voi i tempi di boot sono questi??
come faccio a vedere se ci sono degli errori al boot? e poi di seguito come li risolvo (beh magari questo dopo
)

Se ci sta tanto come dici, magari è un problema di caricamento dei supporti per l'hw da parte del kernel, di conseguenza sarebbe utile che postassi l'output del comando
dmesg

Pare tu abbia un problema dell'hd, non verra' caricato correttamente il modulo o che altro.
Sara' per questo che ti carica lento, intanto prova a fare l'aggiornamento dei pacchetti del kernel, probabile risolvi il problema, eventualmente facciamo una ricerca piu' specifica al riguardo.

Per gli aggiornamenti dovresti avere un'icona nell'area di notifica (solitamente in alto a destra del pannello) visualizzante una freccia rossa, se ci clicchi si avvia update-manager che ti mostra tutti gli aggiornamenti disponibili. In alternativa puoi avviare update-manager dando comando Alt+F2 e scrivendo
gksudo update-manager
Questo tool ti mostra tutti gli aggiornamenti per il software attualmente installato nel tuo computer.

Io ho parzialmente risolto.,.. era un problema si inizializzazione della swap
schiacciando alt+F1 durante il caricamento di ubuntu controllate se vedete una frase del tipo
kinit: no resume image

ho seguito il tuo post, ma purtroppo l'errore continua a presentarsi >:(
però in effetti il caricamento è più veloce... è questo che intendevi con 'parzialmente risolto'?
