[Ati] I video e i filmati flash di youtube vanno a scatti

Cari ragazzi,
ho appena risolto metà dei miei problemi del mio Ubuntu 8.10, ovvero la visualizzazione dei siti con firefox che scattava mostruosamente: installando Compiz Fusion e selezionando Metacity come Windows Manager la situazione è stata messa a posto.
Adesso il problema rimangono i video: scattano tantissimo i video (divx) aperti con videolan o con totem nonostante abbia provato sia l'uscita X11 che quella OpenGL e anche i video su youtube ogni tanto scatticchiano.
Ho una ATI Radeon 9600 ed utilizzo i driver ati originali su KDE, va tutto fluido tranne questi video.. qualcuno di voi ha mai avuto conoscenza di un problema simile?

si vede che la tua scheda non supporta in pieno Compiz. se disattivi compiz continua ad andare a scatti i video su youtube, vlc, ecc?

le ATI 9600 supportano Compiz senza problemi, il problema piuttosto è flash su Linux che è di una pesantezza allucinante.
Hai un sistema a 64 o 32 bit?

Adesso il problema rimangono i video: scattano tantissimo i video (divx) aperti con videolan
anche qua c'entra flash....?

si vede che ci ha ripensato (rotfl)
a parte gli scherzi, anche io leggendo cosi il titolo pensavo a flash, ma poi ho capito che non era quello il problema... l'unica cosa che si può provare sono o i driver OPEN op ATI Proprietari ( non mi è chiaro che driver usa)

mmm... sì, anche secondo me, tra l'altro Benno in
questa discussione, sebbene abbia nvidia e quindi sia leggermente diverso, sta avvertendo gli stessi identici problemi.
Astrid, magari puoi provare a prendere spunto anche da quell'altra discussione :-\

Ragassuoli, innanzitutto vi ringrazio per la vostra disponibilità
Praticamente uso i driver ufficiali dell'ATI e i video in vlc o totem ogni 3-4 secondi fanno uno scatto, il che è piuttosto fastidioso mentre si guarda un film!

Nel tuo primo post dici di aver provato le uscite
X11 e
OpenGL, hai provato però prima di tutto
Xv?
E poi, il tuo
xorg.conf è impostato per usare l'uscita accelerata
Xv?
Per controllarlo incolla qui quello che compare col comando

puoi impostare come uscita predefinita quella accelerata dalla scheda video,

Ho nvidia ed ho gli stessi identici problemi.. io ho "risolto" che per i siti con filmati flash, youtube etc, uso konqueror e non scatta quasi mai..ho notato che firefox è molto pesante per la cpu..konqueror al contrario è molto leggero..flash su linux già di suo "distrugge la cpu" (è una cagata per colpa di adobe che non si impegna piu di tanto sull'open...) ti consiglio di provare con un altro browser

A me piacerebbe però più vedere i film in modo normale

Astrid, nonostante siano configurati in xorg.conf, sembra ci sia qualche problema nell'installazione dei driver video.
Prova a dare questi comandi e incollare qui il risultato

perfetto, adesso puoi attivare ed usare l'uscita Xv.
con questo comando per impostarla in totem
e nella scheda Video imposti Xv.
In vlc invece come credo hai fatto già, dal menu strumenti > preferenze > video.
Fai una prova e dimmi se i video sono ora più fluidi.
