Per prima cosa non devi cambiare i titoli dei post : )
Lo hai aperto perché avevi schermo nero all'avvio. Quello è stato risolto.
Poi ti basta aggiungere in xorg.conf quello che non c'è.
Se la sezione ServerLayout non c'è, devi scriverla tu, da Section a EndSection. Lo stesso per il resto che manca.
Non dicevo che non doveva esserci la sezione, ma che "parte del suo contenuto" può essere diverso o non è necessario. Questo perché il contenuto può cambiare da computer a computer, a seconda delle periferiche collegate. Se per esempio tu collegassi al computer una tavoletta da disegno, una sezione apposita dovrà essere creata. Se tu collegassi un monitor che ha delle particolarità tecniche non riconosciute automaticamente, sarà possibile specificarle nella sezione apposita. Se tu installassi un driver diverso o una scheda grafica di marca diversa, avrai nomi diversi all'interno delle sezioni. Così via.
Se scriverai male le varie cose, avrai errori. Allora riaprirai xorg.conf e ricomincerai da capo.
[edit]Se i files già ci sono, non ti serve reinstallarli.

Mi chiedevo però se avevi provato ad abilitarli, quando hai avuto schermo nero. Non so come funzioni con i Radeon, ma di solito basta aprire: Sistema-> Amministrazione -> Driver Hardware
E una ricerca dei drivers verrà fatta automaticamente dal sistema.

No. Purtroppo ti da solo una lista di drivers proprietari, quelli che tu non puoi usare. Segui la procedura di abilitazione della guida ai Radeon.

No, non devi cliccare su attiva. Probabilmente il consiglio di farlo è arrivato perché l'utente non ha letto il post.
Segui la procedura della guida ai Radeon e lascia perdere quell'altra da Driver Hardware.

Mi sembra che tu abbia un collegamento PCIexpress e non un AGP (non sono certo).
Quindi
non aggiungere la riga:
L'accelleratore 3D serve a farti funzionare le applicazioni 3D, come effetti visivi e videogiochi.

Sul sito ATI la tua scheda era data come AGP. con l'ultimo comando non lo vedo.
Col precedente diceva che era pci express compatibile, ma non mi è chiaro. [edit]mio errore: è capabilities e non compatibilities[/edit].
Per adesso non metterla. Magari mi informo meglio. Se qualcosa non funzionasse di brutto, aggiungila e provala.
Il resto dovrebbe andare bene. Fai una prova.

La X1300 in giro si trova sia AGP che PCIe.

Dove al penultimo rigo viene specificato "capabilities: pm agp agp-3.0...": AGP dunque.
Nel tuo lspci, penultimo rigo, invece si specifica "capabilities: pm pciexpress...": PCIe quindi.
Quindi
non mettere il rigo:
Avevo letto male la prima volta, scambiando "capabilities" per "compatibilities". Ero andato nel pallone perché di compatibilità fra le due cose non avevo mai sentito parlare : )
