Sospensione hard disk - SmartMonTools

Ho due hard disk, uno con ubuntu e uno come disco dati.
Le temperature del disco dati sono salite fino a 50 gradi centigradi!!!
Anche il disco del sistema... 48°C...

Serve a qualcosa dal punto di vista del calore, smontare l'hd dei dati?
Se sì, come si può fare per renderla una cosa automatica? Per esempio dopo 5 minuti di inutilizzo si smonta...

Oppure è possibile interrompergli in automatico l'alimentazione e riattivarla quando serve?

Non è proprio la soluzione ottimale, visto che far partire un disco da fermo comporta un impegno maggiore dei motori che muovono i piattelli del disco stesso e, alla lunga, questo può determinare un'usura maggiore dei motori stessi. Prova ad installare smartmontools e tieni monitorata la situazione dei tuoi dischi.

La valutazione dei risultati di smartmontools non si basa sul dato immediato, ma deve essere monitorato nel tempo. Quando avrai una quantità di dati adeguata potrai effettuare una valutazione.

Un disco può generare degli errori. Ad esempio, quando si cerca di scrivere e la testina parte da uno stato di idle e la scrittura non si completa nel tempo canonico. Questo è normale. La valutazione da fare è quante volte questi errori si generano in un periodo di tempo perchè, se la frequenza degli errori è troppo alta, c'è un problema del disco.
