Come capire se Hardware è identificato

Ciao!
Ho uno scanner collegato al pc tramite porta parallela.
Come posso capire se il computer lo vede?
In altri casi, con periferiche usb, posso usare lsusb.
Ma in questo caso?
P.S. Lo scanner è un HP Scanjet 3200C... che non sono mai riuscito a far funzionare :'(

Su questo sito:
http://www.linuxcompatible.org/HP_Scanjet_3200C_Scanner_c11031.html sembra che Sane vada ricompilato da sorgenti configurandolo con l'opzione --enable-parport.

Direi proprio di si.
Lo scanner é collegato alla porta parallela. A sua volta, allo scanner é attaccata una stampante Epson che ha sempre funzionato.
Che sia lo scanner a non funzionare piu'??

In realtà non mi pare ci sia alcuna indicazione.... Ho una stampante fantesma??

hai una versione di windows xp? eventualmente potresti risolvere creando una macchina virtuale di windows con Virtualbox.
Ps: c'è qualche lucetta accesa nello scanner, arriva l'alimentazione ?

La luce non é accesa. Ora, ammetto che non ricordo se ai tempi su Win95 la luce era sempre accesa o solo in fase di scansione...
P.S. Su win xp non va questo scanner... >:(
Eppure su ubuntu qualcuno lo usa...argh....
