spegnimento pc

mi succede una cosa strana, premetto che uso 8.04

alcune volte mi si spegne il pc,
specificatamente quando clicco sui tastini in alto a destra (riduci a icona) di firefox con tre o quattro schede aperte a volte il pc si spegne  :o  e fa un riavvio ..praticamente diventa nero lo schermo e mi riporta al punto di inserimento password
ho notato che succede particolarmente dopo che ho scaricato qualcosa ( megaupload )

altra cosa , approfitto.... ho un pennino usb per schedine microsd , il pc nn le "vede" assolutamente ... forse perche' e' usb 2  ?

altrimenti da terminale dai il comando

è a posto. non mi risulta che x crashi per mancanza di ram, soprattutto con 1,5 gb

prova a dare

sudo dpkg-reconfigure firefox

apri visualizzatore file di registro e copia quì la voce relativa ad xorg

Ciao, le ram visto che sono di tagli diversi non sono sicuramente identiche.

Di che anno è la tua piastra madre?
Tanto per capire se può essere un problema di stabilità legato alle ram.

Quanti slot per ram hai?
Se è la scheda madre supporta il dual channel usa slot di colore diverso.

Aspetto che rispondi a queste, per non andare fuori strada.

nn sol anno della piastra, ma e' un socket 478 per pentium 4 ... vecchiotta quindi....
sono 3 slot per la ram mi paiono tutte di colore uguale ..

la piastra e' una
HP vectra VL420 DT , che poi e' una asus p4b-mx  fatta per hp...

HP vectra VL420 DT , che poi e' una asus p4b-mx  fatta per hp...

Il problema di instabilità dovuto a ram di taglio diverso a questo punto è da escludere.

Sono della stessa marca o hanno chip simili?

hai provato a fare un test da live cd con la iso di golden-memory?
