[Wireless] Problema (ennesimo) chiavetta Netgear WG111v2

Buon giorno a tutti, sono nuovo del forum, benvenuto a me
Uso il PC di casa ormai solo per Internet e World of Warcraft. Visto che in realtà non mi serve nessun software specifico sviluppato solo per windows ho deciso di avvicinarmi al mondo Linux mediante la distribuzione Ubuntu (una 8-9 anni fa smanettavo la slackware 10 ma il mio cervello ha dimenticato tutto
)
Bene, il primo ostacolo è la connessione alla rete.
Funziona ma solo per pochi minuti. Poi non si muove, poi ritorna... e mi fa impazzire!
se tengo il ping attivo sul router ha dei tempi di risposta strani. Con windows7 il tempo di risposta medio è 2-3ms mentre qui mi ritrovo mediamente sui 7-10 ed una miriade di pacchetti persi. Dopo qualche minuto smette di rispondere.
Girando sul forum mi accorgo di non essere l'unico. Nello specifico mi sono imbattuto in questa discussione:

ho provato a digitare sul terminale il comando suggerito dall'utente (senza capire tra l'altro cosa stessi facendo) ma la situazione non cambia.
Compro un'altra chiavetta o qualcosa si può sistemare?

Allo stato attuale la situazione è la seguente: mediamente va, solo che ho circa il 20% di pacchetti persi sul ping del router ed ogni tanto singhiozza
Un mio amico dovrebbe prestarmi un'altra chiavetta, se va bene al limite l'acquisto

Sì, c'è perdita di pacchetti (evidenziato in rosso), prova a resettare il router o a cambiare canale di trasmissione (es. canale 11); non penso che dipenda dalla chiavetta Netgear, fai una prova con quella del tuo amico per vedere se il problema persiste.

Come hai installato l'adattatore wireless? ;)
Penso che il problema dell'adattatore dipenda da una cattiva qualità o da un'errata installazione dei driver IMHO :-\
