Ubuntu 12.04: Error creating file system

Salve, ho un problema ricorrente con Ubuntu 12.04 riguardante la formattazione. In particolare quando tento di formattare una qualunque memoria appare il seguente messaggio di errore:
Codice: Seleziona tutto
Error creating file system: helper exited with exit code 1: helper
failed with:Total number of sectors (15499232) not a multiple of sectors

La formatti da smontata? Con cosa formatti?

Cioè lo fai cliccando col tasto destro sulla memoria sul launcher oppure utilizzando Gparted o Gestore dischi?

Prova a formattare con Gestore dischi o GParted smontandole prima!

In sostanza la colpa è di Ubuntu?
