Lettore MP3 generico, non viene montato

Stavo per acquistare un lettore MP3 tipo I-pod nano ma mi è stato regalato dall'associazione di altroconsumo.
Purtroppo nel manuale d'istruzioni è specificata la non compatibilità con i sistemi operativi Apple ma solo con Windows.
Già qui la dice lunga, ma ho fin'ora sperato che con la mia Kubuntu 11.04 di non aver problemi e invece......
Non sono un mago del terminale per cui tutto quello che posso fare è postare la parte secondo me utile per farvi capire il problema: dmesg

In pratica la periferica usb in questione è la ACTIONS HS USB FlashDisk 2.00 PQ: 0 ANSI: 0 CCS
Ho provato attraverso Virtualbox dove ho windows xp sp3 aggiornatissimo e viene installata ma al momento in cui tento di accedervi dalle risorse del computer mi dice "periferica non inserita" e non mi fa fare niente... dovrebbe avere 2 GB di memoria ma da windows risulta 0 e non me la lascia nemmeno formattare.
Non so che fare, è davvero un bel lettore si sente molto bene è piccolino e sarebbe ottimo per me che lo userei per fare running, so che monta un chip Samsung (ero riuscito pure a risalire al nome del chip..... :sisi: ora l'ho scordato!)

Io non lo riesco a montare dato che non lo vede come sdb1 o 2 o altro... quindi non saprei. :nono:

a lettore collegato. Il fatto che non lo passi bene a vbox non fa sperare bene, vediamo se ci sono driver sperimentali magari

Potresti provare innanzitutto una versione più aggiornata di ubuntu, penso che con la 12.04 risolveresti solo collegandolo al PC, se non ti va di installato provala in livecd ;)

uhm ho cercato ed è assai problematico. ubuntu 11.04 lo rilevava ma aveva difficoltà nel mount, il tuo kubuntu non vede nemmeno la partizione invece, quindi sicuramente c'è anche il discorso kde che da la mazzata finale...
L'unica è provare a vedere come già consigliato una versione più recente di *buntu, mi spiace ma ho trovato tanti topic e niente di rilevante, anche qua sul forum http://forum.ubuntu-it.org/viewtopic.php?t=467018

In realtà quasi tutte le cinesate da sottobosco vanno solo ed esclusivamente con windows, talvolta pure vanno con vista sì e 7 no o xp sì e vista no...
Ogni tanto trovi una compatibilità di striscio sui kernel linux, ma è bello fin che dura :sisi:

Su lubuntu fdisk non lo rileva? e gparted neppure?
Se vuoi smazzarti puoi tentare con qualche kernel più recente ancora

Domani provo fdisk con Lubuntu, comunque si potrei provare altri kernel ma su chiavette, ora non posso formattare il mio hardware un'altra volta...
Solo che io non so come si cambia un kernel :D

Non devi nemmeno necessariamente sapere come si cambia il kernel, se vuoi ci sono i repo gestiti dal team ubuntu con le ultime versioni del kernel vanilla già bello e pronto :)

come detto in rete non si trovano driver, se fdisk non lo vede non puoi fare niente, puoi provare l'upgrade del kernel ma se con i kernel vecchi veniva riconosciuto da gparted e fdisk e ora no è possibile che sia una tecnologia abbandonata, quindi non ci farei molto affidamento

tra l'altro cercando in internet ho scoperto che non deve essere proprio molto diffuso nel mercato europeo, ho scoperto forum di ubuntu mai visti prima, lituano, turco, strani paesi ex urss e brasile :D ora non capisco il lituano ma non ho trovato comandi utili in nessuno, mi spiace

Secondo te se riuscissi su un pc con windows a formattare l'MP3, potrebbe vedere la partizione o è proprio un problema di driver?
