Mi sa che non te ne sei reso conto, ma il workaround ha funzionato, nella seconda sequenza di ping tutti gli output hanno avuto un esito positivo, il problema è quindi quello che avevo ipotizzato.
Non rimane che continuare l'indagine sul malfunzionamento e arrivare ad una soluzione definitiva.

Nel frattempo il tuo amico può usare il workaround per navigare su Internet, la scomodità è che deve ripetere il comando ad ogni riavvio del PC

Grazie, ho visto che internet funzionava, però non posso dargli il PC con le istruzioni da terminale perché è più che un rookie, avrei bisogno di trovare la soluzione e tornargli la macchina a posto.
Spero possiate darmi una mano risolutiva.
Io resto in ascolto ed eseguirò le istruzioni più o meno al meglio.

Per quello che posso capire il problema è di software, dato che l'hardware funziona sia con Win XP che dopo i tuoi ping, dove posso intervenire, dato che il problema si è manifestato solo dopo l'upgrade di sistema?

Non è che si è solo perso i driver o una stringa di comando?

Ipotizzo da ignorante...

No, il driver della scheda di rete Ethernet c'è. Vedi tuo output del comando lshw.

Probabilmente nell'aggiornamento qualche configurazione è andata persa.

Vedo di postarti qualche comando diagnostico, tu nel frattempo aggiorna il PC.

Mi sono accorto di averti postato un comando sbagliato: nell'ultimo c'era una "s" di troppo.

Forse gli aggiornamenti hanno fatto il loro "sporco lavoro". Proviamo così: riavvia il PC, senza applicare il mio workaround, così ci portiamo nelle giuste condizioni di test.

Dai il seguente comando

Se l'output ha esito postivo, il sistema si è "auto riparato" con gli aggiornamenti. Altrimenti, sempre senza applicare il workaround, ripeti i seguenti comandi:

nmcli -t connection show "Profilo 1"

l'ultimo comando l'ho intuito da output precedenti che hai postato. Nel caso "Profilo 1" non fosse il nome di connessione corretto, correggilo sulla base dell'output del comando precedente.

Visto che questo sistema è frutto di un avanzamento di versione, se vuoi dare un'occhiata allo stato dei repository posta anche questi output

Contestualmente proviamo a disabilitare il protocollo di rete IPv6. Non credo sia questa la causa del malfunzionamento, ma male non fa

con questo comando non stai pingando il tuo router. Stai pingando te stesso. Il tuo router ha indirizzo IP 192.168.1.1 .
Lo avevo già notato prima, ma ne ho avuto conferma solo qualche output dopo.

Oramai l'unico comando ping interessante è il seguente

il cui output mostra che esci su Internet e risolvi correttamente i nomi.

IO un problema simile, con un roter fastweb, lo risolvo settando la rete a mano da /etc/netplan invece di gestito da network manager gli assegli l'indirizzo IP e i DNS.. prova così....

Purtroppo mi sto occupando di risolvere il problema per un amico che usa il PC a casa sua, dato che è più rookie di me mi ha chiesto aiuto, ma la mia rete domestica è differente dalla sua.

Vale sempre il fatto di configurarla a mano se non c'è netplan allora sotto /etc/network e modifichi interfaces

Me la sto tenendo come ultima opzione.
Il problema "base" è che un sistema "sporco", poichè ottenuto mediante avanzamento di versione (pratica della quale io sono un forte oppositore). Probabilmente, reinstallando da zero il sistema i problemi "si risolverebbero" in un attimo.
