Scrolling del mouse non funziona (la rotella....)

Buongiorno a tutti, ho effettuato una installazione completa per ubuntu 19.04. Tutto funziona tranne lo scrolling delle pagine, sia con firefox che con chromium, ovvero quando arrivo sulla pagina per far scorrere la pagina non basta far girare la rotella del mouse, ma l'unico modo è quello di andare sulla barra laterale e trascinarla tenendo in tasto sinistro premuto. Ovviamente con la versione precedente tutt funzionava, così come funziona con chrome su wundows. Ho provato a smanettare in impostazioni scorrimento naturale e velocità....tutto inutile, così come abilitare da chrome://flags/ le voci che lo prevedono. (e che comunque dovrebbero permetterne il funzionamento). La tastiera e il mouse sono , da tantissimi anni, di marca microsoft, sempre riconosciuti e funzionanti con Ubuntu. Il pc è un fisso lenovo i5, 3.2 GHz che ha almeno 5 anni, 8 giga di ram, disco ssd.
Se avete qualche idea, o se avete o avete avuto lo stesso problema e magari l'avete risolto, sarei grato se mi suggeriste qualche possibile soluzione.

Sì, a prima vista ci trovo nulla di strano ma devo vedere meglio, adesso non ho tempo però.

EDIT: è solo nei browser o anche nei programmi tipo gedit o nautilus?

Il mio mouse aveva lo stesso problema, batterie scariche.. ma dopo ho anche cambiato mouse.

Lo fa sia con i browser internet ( chromium firefox e pure chrome) che in nautilus, gedit....
Ho una partizione con windows, e la rotella funziona senza problemi. E' un problema che ho solo con ubuntu. (quindi non è un problema di pile...)

Prova dare xev nel terminale, ti apre una finestrina bianca attiva, scrolla su è giù in quello e osserva il terminale aperto Dovresti vedere questi eventi (button 4 o 5 secondo se è su o giù)

Ovviamente non "scrolla", se premo i tasti neppure e non sposta il quadrato in nessun modo. Cambia l'indicazione e mi da i tasti 1 e 3 (sx e dx) la rotella è il 2 ma non fa nuulla.

Hm il click insieme destra/sinistra o click della rotellina dovrebbero essere il 2, invece scroll up 4 e down 5, sempre un insieme di buttonpress/buttonrelease.
Dovresti semplicemente scrollare all'interno dell area. Ma è logico che non vengono registrati.

Ho provato a fare un utente nuovo; in realtà, con il nuovo utente, a random, cliccando la rotellina e facendola ruotare di uno scatto, a volte la pagina scorre leggermente, per un attimo. Ho pensato a qualcosa che riguarda il bluetooth che in impostazioni è comunque disabilitato e non abilitabile.
Comunque c'è un'altra novità; neppure la parte della tastiera con i numeri (quelli a dx per intenderci) funziona. Quindi è proprio un problema di incompatibilità hardware. Proverò a riscaricare ubuntu 19.04 e, se non funzionasse, ritorno alla 18.10.

Se vuoi fare un downgrade ti consiglio di installare la 18.04.2 in quanto la 18.10 terminerà il supporto a luglio se ricordo bene
