Ubuntu nn mi trova nessun hard disk!!!

Innanzitutto un salutone a tutti! Perchè sono nuovo del forum!
Vi spiego il mio problema!

Poki giorni fa ho tentato di installare Ubuntu su un hard disk esterno!

Non ci sono riuscito, anche perchè nn avevo tempo e quindi ho lasciato perdere!

Quando ho tentato questa Installazione avevo un solo Hard Disk sata WD 250Mb, e un hard disk esterno Lacie 80 Gb!
Tutti e due venivano riconosciuti dal processo di installazzione!!

Dopo un paio di giorni ho deciso di comprare un secondo hard disk SATA 2 Maxtor 160 Gb, sul quale inizialmente volevo installare Vista, ma poi durante l'uinstallazione il tutto si è interrotto per alcuni problemi!
Il tutto mi ha innervosito ( anche considerando i numerosi problemi che vista crea) e ho deciso di ritentare l'installazione di Ubuntu!

Questa volta ho deciso di installare Ubuntu sul secondo hard disk appena comprato (il tutto con il live cd di ubuntu 6.10 uscitomi dalla rivista PcProfessionale).

La cosa più assurda è che adesso Ubuntu in fase di installazione nn riconosce il nuovo hard disk, ma addirittura nn trova nemmeno il vecchio hard disk (dove c'è xp) che prima riconosceva tranquillamente.

In pratica mi dice che nn trova nessun hard disk, mentre le periferiche usb si, infatti se inserisco una pendrive subito viene rilevata.

Premetto che dopo il tentatavo di installazione di vista ho ricostruito Il MasterBootRecord di xp tramite la console di ripristino di xp riportando tutto come prima!

Ormai sono disperato, ho provato anche a staccare fisicamente il secondo hard disk, ma nulla nn trova nulla!

Cosa posso fare?

Come mai prima mi vedeva l'hard disk dove c'era xp, e ora nn solo nn vede questo ma nn vede nemmeno il nuovo?
Vi prego di aiutarmi perchè è la prima volta che tento di installare Linux, e quindi sono all'asciutto!

che intendi con "non lo trova" ? Nel senso che non lo vedi sul desktop ?

Quello potrebbe essere normale. Prova a fare, da terminale

Ciao siryayo.

Prova anche questo comando da un terminale:  (Applicazioni>Accessori>Terminale)

dmesg | less

con questo dovresti vedere tutto ciò che ti ha ricnonsciuto il kernel Linux dal boot in poi, inclusi i controller Ide Pata e Sata (visto come Scsi, tipo Sda) e tutti i Dischi e le unità Cd/Dvd-/+R/Rw collegate.

Con i tasti freccia e pageup e pagedown ti sposti, con q (sta per quit) esci.

Al più postaci parte di quello che il comando dmesg ti visualizza, almeno per capire cosa ti vede e cosa no.

and PARTITION is something like /dev/hda7

Se ho sbagliato qualcosa sui commenti, dimmelo pure.

Per quello che riguarda il SATA, non ce né traccia, sei sicuro di non averlo disabilitato dal BIOS?
Secondo me è la cosa più semplice che può esserti capitata.
Infatti il kernel non ti trova nemmeno il controller, non solo i dischi, se lo trovasse e non lo riconoscesse, troveremmo lo stesso qualcosa, qualche messaggio...
...quindi è come se non ci fosse, la cosa più facile è che tu l'abbia disabilitato.

Guarda quindi nel menù del BIOS.

E' chiaro che nn sono disabilitati nel bios!!!  :)

Da win xp li uso tutti e due tranquillamente!!!!
E li ho formattati con gparted che li vede tutti e due tranquillamente!!
E' solo quando avvio un sistema operativo linux da live cd che nn mi vede nulla!!!!
come se nn li caricasse

Cmq per la questione del bios.....nn è mai statao toccato......se la prima volta mi vedeva l'hard disk c, e ora nn me lo vede dovrebbe essere un prob software credo!

Puo essere che quando hai montato l'hard disk (lo so perchè mi è successo) hai messo male un jumper (quello che decide se master o slave) e alcune volte va, altre no... a me prima di accorgermene è passata una settimana  :)

Udite Udite!!

Sono andato nel bios per fare una prova!!!

Il settaggio originale è il seguente :

1) SATA Controller (enabled)
2) SATA Controller Mode (Ide)

Ho provato a cambiare la seconda opzione in (RAID) e miracolo!!!! Ubuntu mi trova tutti e 2 gli hard disk SATA in fase di installazione!

Ora il problema è che all'avvio Linux nn mi dice qualcosa riguardo al RAID CHE NN è INSTALLATO, e se lo voglio installare mi prega di nn usare qualcosa......qualcosa che nn sono riuscito a leggere perchè la schermata è velocissima!

Inoltre se chiudo l'installazione e riavvio il pc per entrare in Xp (sempre col settaggio "SATA CONTROLLER MODE IN (RAID), si blocca e ritorna sempre alla schermata del bios, è UN CICLO SENZA FINE insomma!!
Per far ripartire xp devo reimpostare il bios come "ide"!!

Ora vi chiedo, cosa posso o devo fare?

Come si installa questo raid, che vada bene per farmi installare sia linux, sia farmi avviare Xp come sistema operativo di default?

E' la prima volta che mi capita di sentire una cosa simile, però non è impossibile.

Il raid è una funzione che permette di utilizzare più dischi fissi come se fossero un'unica unità di memorizzazione.

I vantaggi possono essere molti, maggiori prestazioni in lettura e scrittura, maggiore sicurezza dei dati (eccetto il raid 0 che risulta, al contrario delle altre configurazioni, più insicuro dell'uso di un solo disco fisso ma in teoria dovrebbe essere molto più veloce).

Secondo me, l'opzione "Sata Controller Mode" in "Ide" è corretta, infatti si sconsiglia l'uso di soluzioni Raid ibride (in parte software ed in parte hardware, quelle dei controller "economici" inseriti sulle schede madri), per fare il Raid meglio usare o il soluzioni hardware (costoso  perché nel 99% dei casi si usa un controller Scsi e quindi anche i dischi sono Scsi, le soluzioni Ide ci sono ma sono poche e con maggiori limitazioni) o software (per farlo si può utilizzare una funzionalità del kernel Linux) che permette la creazione di un raid in modo molto più flessibile rispetto all'hardware (con uso di periferiche miste, che utilizzano tecnologie differenti ad es. Ide Pata, Sata, Scsi, Usb, ecc...).

Quindi ti consiglierei (se te la senti) l'aggiornamento del Bios della scheda madre, nella speranza che ti risolva il problema.

Vorrei farti una domanda, se non ti dispiace, che scheda madre hai? (purtroppo dal "dmesg" non si capisce)

La scheda madre è MSI MS-7293.....Cmq io nn voglio fare il raid, era solo per capire, come mai se imposto raid nel bios Ubuntu in fase di installazione mi vede i due hard disk, mentre se metto ide nn mi vede un bel niente????
Quando poi prima di inserire vista ubuntu mi vedeva il primo hard disk!!

Io ho ripulito al meglio il sistema dai file di Vista, anche con programmi di vista che servono per ristabilire il bootloader di Xp....poi se mi sapete dare altri consigli su kome vedere di iliminare proprio tutto mi fa piacere!!!
cmq il boot.ini sembra pulito!!

Ho provato ad impostare il secondo hard disk come volume dinamico! Ma nulla nn va!!
Cmq conviene impostare gli hard disk come base o dinamici?

Le impostazioni in Vista o Xp sono indipendenti rispetto al Sistema Ubuntu...

...quelle del BIOS invece hanno un notevole peso!

Vedi se te la senti di fare l'aggiornamento del BIOS, per vedere se risolvi.
