[Install] montare usb

Salve ragazzi,
ho la necessità di salvare dei dati su una penna usb, ma posso utilizzare ubuntu 6.10 solo da linea di comando....
mi sapreste dire come procedere per installare la penna e come copiarci i file all'interno??

Iniziamo subito, inserisci la pennetta usb e dopo che ha cominciato a lampeggiare il led, digita:

Nelle ultime righe dovrebbe comparire il device che è stato associato alla pennetta, supporniamo il caso che sia /dev/sdc (ma nel tuo potrebbe essere sda).
Con il comando
crei la cartella sdc1 nella cartella media. Ora montiamo la pennetta con
A questo punto, per accedere alla pennetta, basta accedere alla cartella /media/sdc1/
es.:
Prima di rimuovere la pennetta la devi smontare con:
Quando ha finito di lampeggiare, la puoi togliere.

se posso chiederti ancora un favore , ora dovrei recuperare dei dati e vorrei farlo in questo modo:

Il -R indica che l'operazione è ricosiva, è utile per copiare le directory (cartelle).

Ciao,ninjabionico potresti aiutare anche me?,sto cercando di installare ubuntu 7.04 su hard disk esterno usb,sto seguendo la guida,ma siccome sono un niubbo,alcune cose non riesco a capirle La guida dice cosi:
Quest'ultimo comando darà il prompt di fdisk. Controllate cosa avete salvato sul dispositivo ed eventualmente eseguite un backup dei dati. 'p' scriverà sullo schermo il contenuto di /dev/sda. Se avete già delle partizioni, rimuovetele ('d', 'numero partizione').
Creiamo la partizione 1: "n" per nuova partizione, "p" per renderla primaria, "1" per assegnarle il numero 1, quindi basta premere invio per accettare il cilindro di partenza proposto, "+700M" per una partizione da 700MB. Quindi "a" per rendere la partizione attiva. Per assegnare il filesystem FAT: "t", poi "1", poi "6".
Creiamo la seconda partizione: "p" per una partizione primaria, "2" per assegnarle il numero 2, invio per accettare il cilindro di partenza proposto, invio per accettare il cilindro di fine proposto. Uscire e salvare con "w".
Riesco ad andare avanti fino a quando devo mettere il +700 come lo inserisco ,qualcosa non quadra,secondo la guida il successivo passo sarebbe di inserire a, ma il sistema in quel caso mi da solo la possibilità di inserire numeri,qui mi blocco e non riesco ad andare avanti
poi vorrei sapere dove posso scaricare bootloader syslinux,siccome faccio un installazione da cd riuscirei a scaricarlo ed installarlo?

Ciao NeilYoung.
Invece di "fdisk" io utilizzo "cfdisk" che è molto più comodo, ti passo il comando:
Questo supponendo che il tuo disco da partizionare sia sda.
Il programma è molto semplice da usare.
Per apportare definitivamente le modifiche devi scegliere "Scrivi" e poi rispondere "si", solo allora le modifiche fatte diventeranno definitive.

Ciao,grazie per l'interessamento,la guida era un altra,quindi apro un terminale e faccio cfdisk al posto di fdisk?
Come faccio a sapere se il mio Har disk e sda?,adesso lo formatto di nuovo come mi conviene formattare?
Scusami un ultima domanda: il SYSLINUX come lo installo trovo un .exe come con windows o mi devo regolare in maniera diversa'

Ciao.
Per sapere quale dispositivo sia collegato al tuo disco usb, ti consiglio di attaccare il disco ad una porta usb, dopo 10/15 secondi dovrebbe venir riconosciuto dal kernel, quindi guardando i messaggi del kernel dovresti vedere a quale file/dispositivo viene associato (penso sia uno di tipo sda o sdb, poiché le periferiche usb vengono di norma emulate come scsi).
Apri un terminale e digita:
Le ultime righe dovrebbero fare riferimento alla periferica appena riconosciuta, quindi il tuo hard disk usb (vedi il post sopra).
Scusa per prima, hai scritto di syslinux mi sono confuso e ti ho passato la guida per mettere su pennetta usb il contenuto del live-cd...

Come vedi, il kernel rileva nuovamente qualcosa.... ma gli risulta illeggibile a causa di qualche malfuzionamento... tipo il cavo di connessione danneggiato... come riferito in precedenza proprio per questa porta usb...
..quindi il mio consiglio è cambiare porta usb, magari una di quelle sul panello I/O della scheda madre e vedere se te la legge (se l'hai attaccata alle porte del cabinet, probabilmente c'è qualche problema nel cavetto... succede più spesso di quello che pensi.. poi con una periferica te lo fa e con un'altra no... dipende anche dalla sensibilità del dispositivo connesso - con la mia pennetta usb se il cavo non è
perfetto fa proprio così).

ho un HD usb esterno e quando lo collego su ubuntu viene visto senza problemi. l'unica cosa è che lo vede come solo lettura e quindi non ci posso caricare i file che mi servono! come posso fare? qualcuno mi può aiutare?
