Open Gl e virtual box

Salve a tutti,

per un lavoro di tesi sono costretto a dover lavorare con OpenFoam, un software CFD che gira solo su Linux. Essendo un inesperto ho deciso quindi di installare una versione di ubuntu a 32bit sul mio sony vaio con le seguenti caratteristiche:

Chipset Intel® HM55 Express
Processore Intel® Pentium® P6200
memoria ram 4GB
Scheda grafica ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 2GB
150 GB di memoria libera su 350 GB

purtroppo ho constatato che la versione 14.04 LTS di Ubuntu, sia da live, che installandola (sia 32, che 84 bit), che virtualizzandola mi va in (32 bit) mi va in loop all'avvio dopo il login (si anche la live)
sono passato quindi ad una versione derivata quale la 14.04 di Kubuntu, questa l'ho solo virtualizzata a 32 bit e sono dopo lunghe vicissitudini riuscito anche ad installare questo programma, purtroppo un suo componente (Parawiev) all'avvio mi da sempre il seguente errore

da cosa potrebbe dipendere e come potrei agire? forse è il caso di provare ad installare kubuntu accanto a windows?
purtroppo sono abbastanza disperato in quanto al momento non posso cambiare pc e devo farlo funzionare altrimenti non potrò finire in tempo Grazie a chiunque per l'aiuto

Nelle impostazioni della macchina virtuale aumenta la memoria assegnata alla scheda grafica ed abilita il rendering 3d e 2d.

Inoltre sul sistema virtualizzato dovresti installare le guest additions.

le guest additions sono installate correttamente, ed ho provato con accelerazione 3d attivata e disattivata, ricevo sempre l'errore, nel caso sia disattivata Paraview non parte nemmeno. Non ho mai spuntatato la 2d perchè al farlo cita che "è valida solo per sistemi guest Windows, e quindi sarà disabilitata", Non è che forse devo reinstallare le open gl ?
