Ho fatto l'update alla beta di natty; adesso se parto dalla primitiva opzione "single nomodedeset i8042.nopnp" di grub (era l' unico modo per aprire la 10.10 per via dell' hybrid graphic system di questo computer) Ubuntu mi si apre senza difficoltà e tutto funziona a meraviglia. Ho provato a rieditare grub mettendo la primitiva opzione "quiet splash" sperando di poter partire in alta risoluzione; ubuntu si apre sempre in alta risoluzione ma solo in modalità riga di comando; ho provato a lanciare da terminale "compiz replace" e questo è il risultato

veramente mi sembra di averli aggiornati cliccando in system/administration/additional drivers/nvidia accelerated graphic drivers (version current). Ho notato che se edito il grub mettendo al posto di "single nomodeset i8042.nopnp" "quiet splash vt.handoff=7" che è, mi sembra il normale comando per natty, compare: "mountall: Disconnected from plymouth" che significa?

Sono i drivers proprietari forniti da Ubuntu, però non saprei dove vedere la versione; da synaptic risulta istallato Nvidia-current-270.30-Oubuntu3. grazie

Devi specificare quale scheda vuoi usare in maniera predefinita per risolvere il problema probabilmente di default è settata quella
diciamo "sony" che immagino non supporti tutto ciò che serve per unity quindi istruiscilo in modo tale che utilizzi nvidia
Ps opzione 1: guarda nel bios vedi se puoi scegliere la scheda (me lo auguro per te )
opzione 2: in alternativa togli gli nvidia e installa i nouveau (sembra che abbiano un supporto migliore per questo tipo di sistema)
opzione 3: ultima possibilità specificare manualmente quale scheda utilizzare

In effetti purtroppo il Bios non mi da possibilità di scelta fra le schede grafiche. Nel caso dove posso trovare i drivers Nouveu? Su Synaptic c'è un "nouveu-firmware" (non istallato), è quello? e se mi dovesse dar problemi eventualmente come lo disinstallo? Circa la possibilità di scelta manuale, c'è un pulsante che mi permettere di scegliere (ma su Windows) o la scheda grafica Nvidia o quella interna (ma meno veloce) al chip Intell, uso quella prima di lanciare Ubuntu? ancoora grazie per la pazienza

Devi installare xserver-xorg-video-nouveau e togliere nvidia-current poi un riavvio e vediamo che succede ripeto non è sicuro che
funzioni l'unica cosa sicura e gli experimental (i nouveau) supportano meglio questo tipo di situazione

Ho disinstallato i drivers nvidia proprietari ed ho installato da synaptyc gli: "xserver-xorg-video-nouveau(experimental)" nonchè "X.Org X server -- Nouveau display driver (debug symbols) " (però ho notato che i primi erano già installati); sono poi ripartito editando in grub "quiet splash".però purtroppo non è cambiato nulla: schermo nero

Prova a seguire la guida in alternativa potresti provare un ultimo passaggio inserendo nell' xorg.conf nella sezione device il bus id
della scheda che dipende da quello che ti viene fuori ad esempio da lspci (ovviamente mi riferisco ad nvidia)
Ad esempio per la mia scheda lspci da 05:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G80 [GeForce 8800 GTS] (rev a2)
quindi nell'xorg.conf sotto la sezione device va messo BusID "PCI:5:0:0"
della scheda che dipende da quello che ti viene fuori ad esempio da lspci (ovviamente mi riferisco ad nvidia)

che eventualmente non si metta in "economy" e se hai il tasto per avviare la scheda "accendi" anche quello

Grazie anzitutto per il link della guida veramente ricco di indicazioni; però visto che è abbastanza complicata, almeno per i miei livelli, ti chiederei in caso combinassi qualche pasticcio come riinstallare ubuntu ex novo senza però danneggiare windows 7 che ho su un'altra partizione e che uso per lavoro. L' aggiunta del BusId in xorg.conf non ha dato risultati. Prima di lanciarmi a seguire le indicazioni della guida ho cercato di appurare se "vga_switcheroo" fosse nel kernel, ma mentre in /boot/config-2.6.* compare l'opzione vgaswitcheroo/switch, in /sys/kernel/debug non compare nulla anche se apro ubuntu mettendo nel grub "modeset=1" come suggerito Aggiungo il particolare che se tento di far partire da terminale unity lo schermo lampeggia 3-4 volte per poi ritornare su classic ed ottengo sul terminale questo output:

Dall'installer hai diverse opzioni tra cui puoi scegliere di installare natty a fianco ad altri sistemi operativi o sostituire ad esempio

ho già fatto la modifica da te suggerita a xorg.conf; cosa devo scrivere nella blacklist e dove la trovo? Tieni anche presente che adesso ho installati i drivers nouveau e disinstallato i drivers nvidia proprietari
