[Risolto] Scelta tra Debian e Ubuntu

Questo e per come la vedo io che non sono un esperto di Debian, Per la debian firefox e gia installato, anche se e un altro nome ma c'è firefox, e forse non ti fa installare firefox perchè e gia istallato. imho

In questo momento sono sulla Debian se digito firefox nel Software Center mi viene Iceweasel/firefox e lo stesso mi fa con Synaptic.

Se viene un esperto Debian potrà spiegarti meglio o confutare quanto ho scritto .

Il fatto è che non sapere fare, o non riuscire a fare anche per dei limiti dell'OS, qualcosa, non centra niente con la stabilità.
Se avvii firefox da terminale scopri l'errore che gli impedisce di andare, può essere che manca qualche dipendenza da installare, è normale, se su una ubuntu senza FF ci metti FF da tar c'è comunque bisogno di installare le dipendenze...
Il discorso è sempre quello, quando qualcosa non funziona bisogna pensare a quale possa essere il problema, non pensare che è "instabile"... senza considerare che Debian è stabile vuol dire che quello che fornisce Debian è stabile, non quello tu prendi altrove

più seria la domanda fatta invece riguardo ai bug delle versioni. Inanzitutto ci sono gli aggiornamenti di sicurezza / bugfix e quindi l'applicazione riceve comunque delle migliorie, pun non passando alla versione successiva. È vero che se tu hai una 1.5 e il problema è talmente storico da venire fixato magari solo nel nuovo ramo di sviluppo 3.0 la tua versione resterà buggata, ma aggiornare un programma è fattibile, ci sono i precompilati e i .deb col solo programma (e magari un paio di dipendenze se la cosa è molto in avanti col tempo) e questo non compromette la stabilità del sistema. Infatti anche in questa domanda c'è un errore di fondo, un programma instabile non è sinonimo di un OS instabile, un OS stabile è quando un aggiornamento non falla tutto il sistema, magari avviando una bella schermata nera, è stabile quando un upgrade non prevede la rimozione di molte librerie si sistema, quando non si salta da un driver video all'altro con lo stesso xorg non ottimizzato facendo sballare tutto. Stabile come una roccia vuol dire che dopo un aggiornamento non devi avere paura che la grafica smetta di funzionare, la rete scompaia etc etc.

C'è da dire che la sqeeze a iceweales 3.5 , se lui vuole mettere firefox 16 lo accetta?, secondo me no, ma posso sbagliare

Con firefox, mi accontento anche se ... ma la cosa che mi lascia interdetto è: quello in allegato, e vi assicuro che GStreamer plugins sono installati, vedete sempre in allegato, questo su ubuntu non accade mai !! (non fate caso al commento su ubuntu).

La cosa strana è che con debian nessun esecutivo viene aperto, ho provato a cliccare su kmix, gnome alsa mixer, insomma nulla inoltre l'audio funziona ma se clicco mi da errore come nell'allegato.

P.S. Debian senza problemi = Ubuntu e Ubuntu + Stabilità = Debian, ma adesso mi tengo i problemi e dunque mi tengo debian oppure mi tengo ubuntu ma meno stabilità ?

Benissimo adesso è sicuro che cancellerò 31GB di file .iso della distro Debian, alien non può non funzionare, questo significa che non metterò altra distro al di fuori di ubuntu, questa cosa non mi suona eppure ho scaricato jre7 x64 e non x86, ma sta bene?

parla di dipendenze che potrebbero essere evitate, questo è il funzionamento di alien, io perciò metto alien !! perchè fa tutto da solo, automaticamente cioè se vede che servono dipendenze le installa da solo, ma non credevo mi desse errore per evitarle, tu non devi evitare (dependency on nomeDipendenza could be avoided) dipendenze al massimo mi devi dire che non ci sono e io le reperisco e le installo, ma se tu le eviti allora non potrai mai installare jre-7u9-linux-x64 perchè mi eviti quello che deve essere installato per installare altri pacchetti che dipendono da esse (cosiddette dipendenze, lo dice la parola stessa !!)

Non lo so cosa gli manchi, indubbiamente tutto si può installare, a meno che sia controproducente, anche se dubito serve cambiare lo xorg per FF ^_^ bisogna solo vedere, ma quello che intendevo sopra è che non ha niente a che vedere con la stabilità questa cosa

jhonny è tutto relativo mente tu parli in termini assolutistici, sbagli a priori. Ogni distro ha problemi che altre distro possono non avere, poi bisogna vedere quale è il "problema", una libreria da aggiornare infatti è un problema solo per te che intendi aggiungere software incompatibile, non è un problema della distro Devi scegliere tu cosa preferisci fare, aggiornare all'impazzata è una cosa da ubuntu, con tutti i suoi rischi, oppure da Sid, non da Debian stable, tu hai messo Debian stable?In tal caso non va bene, come ho già detto più volte la versione stabile NON riceve aggiornamenti quindi se tu aggiorni un componente è logico che sempre tu devi aggiornare le sue dipendenze, è così che funziona una distro fixed... Devi leggere un po' più info e parlare meno per concetti assoluti
Ad ogni modo a occhio l'errore può essere o per i plugin troppo vecchi per essere compatibili (e quindi ci vuole qualche backport per qualche libreria) o perchè la directory di installazione è diversa da dove vengono cercati, ma questo non è un topic di supporto a FF e allo staff gli OT non piacciono
Di sicuro non credo comunque che tu sia pronto a Debian, devi leggerti un bel po' di cose, vedi ora pensi che Alien non va, ma non hai nemmeno letto l'errore che ti da?
Inizia a capire la filosofia di Debian così capisci cosa trovi sui suoi repo e cosa no, da FF a java

La scelta di iceweales al posto di FF, per Debian, rappresenta la conseguenza "logica" di essere fedeli al modello Gnu, cosa che la Canonical con Ubuntu fa parzialmente, perché non è nelle sue ipotesi.
Detto questo, che si possa installare FF mi pare quasi ridondante averne dubbi.

Io non ho dubbi come l'autore del topic, ubuntu 12.04 mi va bene e funziona tutto. La debian se gli cambio i repo ci posso mettere le cose piu aggiornate , sta a lui vedere se la vuole così come e o cambiare repo e passare dalla stable alla Sid. imho

p.s. se con ubuntu stai bene stai con ubuntu, magari ti fai una seconda partizione dove provare a rotazione varie distro e magari troverai qualcosa che ti soddisfa di più o capirai che ubuntu è proprio la tua distro in ogni caso dovrai leggere un po' di cose, perchè ogni distro ha differenze sia concettuali che strumentali

rispondo solo per ringraziare streetcross che qualche post più su è riuscito a darmi una piccola spiegazione sul concetto di stabilità di un os, sottolineando la differenza tra stabilità di un os e software installato. Certo sarei curioso di capire un po di più la definizione di stabilità di un os, anche perchè come ho già detto tutti fanno presto a dire che una lts è molto stabile, ma a sapere di preciso cosa voglia dire son ben pochi
