/etc/hosts mancano.
Se uso la porta
8080 perché devo abilitare la
8000 ?!?!

Perch é la porta 8000 alla quale ti devi connettere per usare il programma via web.
Non so nulla di come hai installato e configurato la vps, calcolando inoltre che essendo una vps remota puo' avere dei limiti dal suo router.
Il comando "sudo iptables -L" ti restituisce un output?
In caso puoi configurare l'iptables

Che ip ha il serverino ?
Ma prima non hai detto che ufw non funzionava ?
Perché vi sono configurazioni ufw nella iptables.
ha ecco l'hai abilitata, disabilitala.. "sudo ufw disable" eventualmente successivamente si configura meglio, prima fare funzionare.

si ho abilitato il firewall e ti ho anche postato sopra i codici:
posso farti qualche domanda sulla guida? sei pratico? forse ho sbagliato un passaggio ma non ne sono certo...

Non sono pratico di AWS non l'ho installato.. anche se di certo ho installato cose simili.
Ed è molto difficile capire meglio essendo che la macchina remota l'hai avanti tu.
Prova a pingare l'ip:8000 o a fare un "telnet tuoip:8000" per vedere se risponde ed accedi.
Lo puoi dare dalla macchina stessa e da remoto anche un "telnet localhost:8000" su macchina.
Se fossi io a dover installare e non funziona fare un casino di prove prima di venirne a capo, magari cercando poi su google o seguendo consigli su forum.

@ubuntugulotta Se proprio vuoi ottenere qualcosa da questa discussione, io ti consiglierei di ripartire da zero mostrando esattamente tutti i passaggi che ti accingi a eseguire. Per il momento è come sparare al buio.
