mi chiede il cd di ubuntu per installare una applicazione

scusate, più che un "newbie" sono un vero "freshmen"...mi sono fatto installare da mio fratello la 7.04 e va alla grande.
ho scaricato da internet un programma che vorrei installare, ma è un tar.gz da compilare.

nelle guide su internet ho letto che per compilare il codice devo avere il pacchetto agguntivo build-essential.

dopo averlo trovato con synaptics, dico di installarlo, ma a questo punto mi viene richiesto il cd di installazione, che io ovviamente non ho.
sto provando a scaricarmi la iso, cercherò di montarla e di farla usare al sistema, come ho visto in un altro topic.

NOTA: per poter fare la modifica devi essere root, quindi apri il file con il comando:
gksudo gedit (se hai Gnome);
kdesu kate (se hai KDE);
sudo nano (se preferisci il terminale.
Poi devi digitare nel terminale il comando sudo apt-get update e non Ti chiedera' piu' il CD.
