ATI + driver radeon + gutsy

a me ancora non è chiara una cosa.. usando i driver proprietari si ottiene effettivamente un aumento della qualità/velocità di compiz? A me con i driver open funziona tutto..certo però se potesse essere più veloce qualche prova la farei..

Farei un riassunto visto che ora mi funziona anche fglrx (versione kernel 2.6.22-14):

• x usare i driver radeon = disintallare xorg-driver-fglrx
• per usare fglrx = installare xorg-driver-fglrx, riconfigurare xorg.conf, riavviare; se si fa "modprobe fglrx" sembra dare problemi, perchè c'è ancora in funzione il modulo drm..riavviando il sistema fglrx si carica correttamente!

disinstallati driver ati ufficiali (e tutte le voci di riferimento a fglrx)

Per chi sta utilizzando il driver radeon e l'accelerazione 3D non funziona, do un consiglio: provate a rimuovere xorg-driver-fglrx. Ho letto su un forum inglese che poteva essere questa la causa, infatti ora sul mio sistema funziona perfettamente il 3D :P


P.S se avete altri problemi provate  a rimuovere xserver-xgl...l'ho dovuto fare perché, altrimenti, X era paurosamente lento!

questa sera provo, questa notte sono passato a gutsy, e in effetti con glxgears faccio pietà... e supertux mi và a scatti!!!

ho fatto un macello... ma alla fine ho disinstallato tutto xorg e dipendenze... reinstallato da zero... installato di nuovo gnome e tutto va alla perfezione!!! ho una ati mobility 9600 turbo!!!

il modulo radeon e' gia' presente nel kernel..devi aprire /etc/X11/xorg.conf e sostituire i driver della sezione "Device" "Driver" con radeon
Poi, bisogna scaricare anche il metapacchetto:

il supporto dei driver radeon va dalla 7000 alla x1050 compresa.. la x700 e' pienamente supportata.
Aiglx e' gia' attivo in Xorg7.2, quindi non c'e' da abilitare nulla.
