[RISOLTO] Problema di avvio: PCI: Cannot allocate resource + schermata nera

Problemi riscontrati durante l'installazione di Ubuntu, degli aggiornamenti e degli avanzamenti del sistema.

Ciao a tutti.
Ho installato da zero la 7.10 sul mio portatile HP pavilion dx4000 equipaggiato con una ATI Radeon Mobility X700.
L'installazione è andata bene, ma con mia grande sopresa al primo avvio, dopo il prompt di GRUB, mi sono beccato una serie di messaggi

PCI: Cannot allocate resource region 7 of bridge 0000:00:1c.0
PCI: Cannot allocate resource region 8 of bridge 0000:00:1c.0
PCI: Cannot allocate resource region 9 of bridge 0000:00:1c.0

e dopo una bella schermata nera (anche se l'HD continuava a "macinare" lasciando intendere che il caricamento stava andando avanti) >:(
Dopo la doverosa serie di parolacce ho cercato in giro ed ho risolto più o meno come segue.
I probemi sono 2:
1. i messaggi PCI
2. schermata nera (dipendente da un qualche conflitto della scheda video con lo splash screen)

Problema 1
Per evitare il msg basta passare al kernel la direttiva "acpi=off"
Per fare questo, al menù di GRUB accertarsi che sia selezionata la riga "Ubuntu 7.10, Kernel 2.6.22" quindi premere "e" per entrare in modalità di editig della riga in questione.
Quindi selezionare con i tasti freccia la seconda riga (kernel /boot/vmlinuz/...) e premere ancora "e" per editarne i parametri.
Inserire la direttiva "acpi=off" e premere invio affinchè venga accettata la modifica. Successivamente premere "b" se volete avviare il SO.
*ATTENZIONE* se come me avete un problema di schermo nero non premete "b" adesso, ma passate alla sezione seguente per risolvere anche il problema prima di avviare.

Problema 2
Come sopra bisogna modificare le direttive da passare al kernel. L'idea che mi sono fatto è che lo splash screen vada in conflitto con la scheda video quindi si perde totalmente lo schermo.
Per evitare che lo splash screen venga avviato seguite la procedura descritta sopra (problema 1) e raggiungete la sezione in cui si scelgono i parametri da passare al kernel, quindi eliminare la parola "splash".
A questo punto premere INVIO per accettare le modifiche e successivamente premere "b" per avviare con i parametri appena modificati.
L'effetto sarà che non saranno più visualizzati il logo UBUNTU e la barra di progressione, ma tutti i messaggi della fase di boot. Alla fine di questa partirà il login grafico a cui siamo abituati.

Ricordatevi alla fine di rendere permanenti le modifiche che vi ho indicato modificando manualmente  il file /boot/grub/menu.lst

Mi rendo conto che questo non risolve del tutto i problemi e che si tratta più di un "work around"... sto cercando in giro sul web ulteriori delucidazioni.

Per la cronaca: una volta avviato gnome ho scoperto che il sever Xgl non era installato e l'ho dovuto installare a mano per poter utilizzare compiz ... ma questa è un'altra storia.

dopo aver postato questa "soluzione temporanea" ho scoperto sul forum che il problema è molto diffuso fra i possessori di ATI mobility Radeon.

Sempre sul forum ho trovato indicazioni in merito alla modifica del file /etc/usplash.
A qualcuno sembra abbia funzionato impostare la corretta risoluzione schemo all'interno del file di cui sopra.

A me non ha funzionato. Ho provato praticamente tutte le risoluzioni ed alla fine ho dovuto eliminare la direttiva "splash" dai parametri passati al kernel.

Spero abbiate migliore fortuna.

Ok, la modifica del file usplash funziona.
Dopo aver modificato il file come sopra bisogna lanciare il comando seguente affinchè abbia effetto

sudo update-initramfs -u

Naturalmente ricordatevi di aggiungere la direttiva "splash" fra i parametri del kernel se l'avete in precedenza eliminata (come ho fatto io).

A me adesso funziona tutto.

Ciao!! Anche a mè lo stesso problema!! UGUALE!!! Ho un acer 5514 con scheda video x700 ho installato i driver proprietari 8.40.4

potresti spiegarmi passo a passo cosa devo fare??Scusa se ti chiedo questo ma leggendo i post non mi è molto chiara la situazione..

io ricevo lo stesso errore da quando uso una scheda AGP.

Buonasera e scusate la mia ignoranza sapete se la dicitura PCI: cannot allocate resource region 0 of device 0000:00:00.0 - si puo risolvere con la procedura segnalata qui sopra?
