[Grub] Ho installato UBUNTU 7.10 e col boot GRUB 1.5 non parte XP

Salve sono un newbies di linux quindi vi chiedo la cortesia di essere pazienti.

Ho appena installato sul portatile Ubuntu versione 7.10 utilizzando l'installazione grafica che in automatico fa la partizione dell'HD conservando il sistema operativo precedente (nel caso mio Win XP home edition).

Dopo aver riavviato il PC parte il boot sector GRAB che mi chiede quale sistema fare partire se UBUNTU o XP.

Il problema è che UBUNTU parte e va tutto ok, ma quando voglio far partire XP mi dice "errore lettura disco" premere CTRL-ALT-CANC e riavvia tutto daccapo.

C'è qualcuno che può aiutarmi vi prego  >:(

Il risultato lo copi con "Ctrl+shift+C" e lo incolli con "Ctrl+v" nella risposta tra i tag code (il cancelletto # sopra le emoticons)

tu digita la password e dai invio .....è giusto che non veda nulla!!!

hai una pendrive o un disco esterno collegato?  se si scollegalo e prova a riavviare e scegliere xp

niente da fare, ho staccato l'HD esterno che avevo, ma lo stesso winzozz non parte.

cmq l'HD esterno è sempre stato staccato anche durante l'installazione di ubuntu.

L'ho attaccato solamente poco fa.

ho scelto quello che dava lui in automatico (sulla guida all'istallazione è indicata una partizione al 50%) il primo dei tre nella lista.
