Le cose stanno così, ho installato i nuovi backend, ma sono stabili adesso, non lo avevo capito, ma il 2 Gennaio li hanno rilasciati, ora la versione che scarichi dal sto di sane è proprio la 1.0.17.
Tuttavia il problema del Segmentation fault non ero riuscito a risolverlo installando Xsane da sorgenti, così cercando nei vari forum ho trovato una lista di repository per debian che ho usato per installare Xsane e adesso se imposto i permessi per poter usare lo scanner anche da normale utente, mi va.
Ora tutto questo l'ho fatto perchè con i backends di ubuntu il mio scanner non va i driver
genesys, che sono quelli per il mio scanner sono solo nella versione 1.0.17 (almeno da quello che ho capito leggendo sul sito di sane
)

Il mio problema cmq adesso sono i permessi, non ho ancora capito come modificarli in maniera definitiva.

Ok, so it's just a permission problem. See README.linux for some
comments about this. You can also use the libsane.usermap file from
current CVS:

That file contains the ids for the LiDE 60.

Yes. Probably you have an older version of sane-backends installed in
parallel.

Information about USB scanners:
================================
With Linux 2.4.* you could either use the kernel scanner module or libusb to
access USB scanners. In Linux 2.6.4 the kernel scanner module was removed.
Therefore with this and later kernels libusb must be used.
While SANE automatically uses libusb when the library and its header file were
present during the build of sane-backends, setting permissions will require some
attention. So if scanimage -L lists your scanner as root but not as normal user
read on this text.
The device files used by libusb are located in /proc/bus/usb/
(e.g. /proc/bus/usb/001/003). The exact file name can be found out by running
sane-find-scanner which would print "libusb:001:003" in this case. While
setting permissions with e.g. "chmod a+rw /proc/bus/usb/001/003" works,
this change is not permanent. The permissions will be reset when the scanner is
replugged or Linux is rebooted.
One solution to set permissions on-the-fly are the Linux hot-plug tools that
should come with any current distribution. Your distribution should have set up
the scripts to automatically change permissions correctly. Look for
"libsane.usermap" and "libusbscanner" in /etc/hotplug/usb. Usually you must just
add the users that are allowed to access the scanner to group "scanner". To make
that change active, the user must login again. For more details, see your
distribution's documentation e.g. for Debian: README.debian.gz.
If you build SANE from source you can use the hotplug script that comes with
SANE. See the tools/hotplug/ directory in the source distribution. Please refer
to the README in that directory for the details.
Gentoo users: If your USB scanner is not detected at all check that USE=usb is
set when emerging.
E' solo la parte che riguarda gli scanner USB, come il mio.
Tuttavia se pensi che possa far funzionare lo scanner anche con i programmi di defoult di ubuntu (e mi spieghi come
) va benissimo tanto devo reinstallare il sistema operativo perchè tra i vari tentativi per far funzionare l'aggeggio ho tolto il pacchetto libusb che ti mette durante l'istallazione di Ubuntu e con lui anche tutte le sue dipendenze così adesso non riesce più ad attivarmi le penne usb e tutto il resto, la sola cosa che funziona adesso è lo scanner ::) ::).
penso che ci diventerò matto, ma sono cmq contento di divetare matto per linux e non atrofizzarmi il cervello con windows.
