Però lo schermo scompare un attimo, mi ha cambiato il numero di desktop in basso a sinistra, solo che non vedo gli effetti, è forse mia inettitudine?

Edit:su compiz stanno impostati 4 desktop, e a me ce ne sono 12!

No, nessun effetto, ma per effettuare il cambio clicco sul desktop piccolino col numerino, se mi sposto col mouse non mi cambia il desktop...

Allora, ulteriori novità:
Se disabilito la funzione "decorazione finestre" funzionano tutti gli altri effetti, purtroppo disattivando quella funzione, le finestre non si possono più spostare dal lato superiore dello schermo, non compaiono la x per chiudere la _ per abbassare etc, e quindi diventa impossibile usarlo.

Infatti nell'errore dice proprio libdecoration.so...
Come potrei fare?

devi mettere emerald in compizconfig come decoratore, così lo stesso compiz lo lancia al suo avvio.

E dove si mette? L'unica cosa che ho trovato in compizconfig è, cliccando su decorazione finestra, una riga vuota con "comando" in cui dice "Riga di comando strumento di decorazione eseguita se nessuna applicazione di decorazione è in esecuzione"

installar l'icona non cambia le cose necessariamente, bisogna capire perché emerald non vuole partire:

Prima cosa: quale versione di compiz hai installato? quella dei repo di feisty è una cosa, compiz fusion un'altra...
