X fa i capricci a volte

Salve a tutti, utilizzo una macchina server come workstation (IBM System x3105), il quale ha installata una scheda video on board (ATI ES1000). Dopo aver installato Ubuntu 7.04 il sistema ha correttamente riconosciuto la scheda e l'ha configurata correttamente. Utilizzo un monitor 19" wide della acer e tutto sembra funzionare correttamente salvo che in alcune occasioni (ad esempio qualche volta all'avvio o dopo che il sistema ritorna al desktop dopo che è andato lo screensaver) la visione del desktop sul monitor risulta pessima: sfarfallio, caratteri sfocati, come se il sistema non riconoscesse correttamente la risoluzione che sta utilizzando. Basta riavviare il server x e tuto torna alla perfetta normalita'. Qualcuno di voi saprebbe dirmi da cosa possa dipendere questo piccolo inconveniente? Mi piacerebbe sapere se fosse un problema riconducibile al fatto che x non è configurato correttamente oppure se si tratti di problemi legati al tipo di monitor(acer AL1916W).
