Doppio monitor con scheda Ati, schermata di login sfalsata

Ciao a tutti, dopo innumerevoli tentativi sono finalmente riuscito a settare come doppio monitor una tv lcd da 32" vicino al mio portatile asus con ati x700.

Ora, la risoluzione del primo monitori (portatile) è di 1440x900 mentre quella della tv è 1280x768. Quando pero accendo il pc, la schermata di avvio, dove devo inserire nome e password, risulta sfalsata, in una risuoluzione bassissima, anche se riesco tranquillamente ad accedere.
C'è un modo per modificare tale risoluzione?

Inoltre la risoluzione del secondo schermo (la tv) non rimane salvata a 1280x768 ma 1280x1024, per cui ad ogni riavvio devo modificarla manualmente tramite Ati Catalyst Control. Esiste una soluzione anche per questo problema?

allora sono riuscito a risolvere il problema della schermata di login, modificando la sezione screen dell'xorg.

Rimane il problema della risoluzione del secondo monitor, cioe come settarla automaticamente a 1280x768
