URGENTE!!! Helppppppp Gli effetti video non si attivano più

Salve a tutti ... ho un problema molto grave per me ... ieri non so perchè ad un certo punto ogni volta ke kiudevo una finestra o aprivo quelacosa il pc diventava lentissimo ... per via degli effetti video cosa ke non aveva mai fatto .... così dato che dovevo completare una cosa per la scuola e dovevo sbrigarmi ho kiuo tutti i prgrammi ma niente sempre lentissimo ad un certo punto ha deciso di disattivare gli effetti video ... una volta disattivati il pc va a bomba... Solo che ... oggi vado per riattivarli e nnt appena clicco su personalizati carca un attimo e poi mi dice impossibile attivare gli effetti video  >:( >:( >:( aiutatemiiiiiii  :'( :'( :'(
P.S possiedo ubuntu 8.04

problema risolto!!!! (rotfl) (good) grazie pablomoreno .. ma mi sai dire un ultima cosa ? perche diventa così lento ??ho gli effetti video attivati da una vita ma solo da ieri va così lento !!! così è impossibile usarloo

Per quello non so dirti, dovrebbe risponderti qualcuno molto più esperto di me :-\, io mi arrangio e quel poco che di volta in volta apprendo cerco di metterlo a disposizione.
Credo comunque che per ottenere una risposta dovresti postare la tua configurazione di xorg, così chi sa dove mettere le mani ha una situazione più chiara, digita il seguente comando nel terminale:
gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf
il risultato che esce copialo e postalo

Dato che il prolema nn è risolto del tutto nn HO MESSO RISOLTO -.- e cmq con quel comando il temrminale mi da # /etc/X11/xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)
