Ciao sto cercando di avviare compiz che però termina con errore

ora passiamo alle cose strane il 3d è attivo perchè sia glxgears che altri programmi 3d (come dreamchess) funzionano ma se provo a dare:

Uso debian ma ho provato la live del nuovo ubuntu e ho visto che compiz funzionava bene con i nuovi driver
La scheda è una ati mobility x1600 e sto usando i driver radeonhd il mio xorg è questo (ho omesso le sezioni inutili come tastiera etc..)

qualche idea? sto facendo ricerche su ricerche ma non trovo nulla che mi aiuti.
