ciao raga da un po' di tempo non riesco piu' ad avere l'acesso
direto al pc infatti lo uso solo io e  mi secca ogni volta inserire
la password eppure nel quadro  sicurezza ho spuntato acesso
automatico ma  mi continua a chiedere la pass  ???

In caso necessario provvedi, e lascia perdere le spunte...

di seguito senza righe vuote dovresti trovare

AutomaticLogin=nomedeltuoutente

se non ci sono aggiungile e salva.

Hai visualizzato il file o era un foglio vuoto? Se era un foglio vuoto ho hai sbagliato di digitare o quel file non esiste nel tuo FileSystem. Se invece trovi una scritta del genere:

Mi pare strano che tu non abbia mai usato un editor di file di testo... sono più semplici da usare di openoffice e fanno più o meno la stessa cosa (editano file di testo).

innanzitutto ti ringrazio per le risposte per cercare di risolvere,
dunque ti spiego apro il terminale che appare tutto bianco a
parte la mia  riga utente  (flavio@flavio-laptop:~$ con alla fine 
la barretta nera che lampeggia dove io ho scritto sudo gdmetc........ quello che mi hai 
indicato invio ma non succede niente l'ho scritta proprio uguale a come l'hai postata,
per quanto riguarda l'editor di file di testo, ho aperto questa applicazione ma non 
l'ho mai usata  a cosa serve? si puo' usare al posto del terminale per scrivere files.
Mi viene il dubbio che sia come dici tu che manca il FileSystem

Non può non succedere niente, hai mai usato funzioni da riga di comando? sembrerebbe di no.
Per evitare errori fai un copia-incolla: copia la riga come l'ho scritta io (evidenziala con il cursore e fai un ctrl+c) poi portati nella shell da riga di comando e clicchi su modifica/incolla e dai invio: a questo punto deve domandarti la password di root.
Per verificare se il file incriminato esiste digita:
find /etc/gdm/gdm.conf-custom

se il file esiste ti ritorna:
/etc/gdm/gdm.conf-custom
se non esiste ti ritorna:
find: /etc/gdm/gdm.conf-custmo: Nessun file o directory

fatto ho incollato sudo gedit /etc/gdm/gdm.conf-custom ed è venuto fuori
[sudo] password for flavio invio ed esce questo:  Sorry, try again.

Ma hai scritto la tua password?
L'hai scritta correttamente?

il problema è che quando mi esce [sudo] password for flavio il terminale poi
si blocca e non mi lascia scrivere piu' niente >:(

guarda che la password che scrivi mica si vede sul terminale...
oddio scusa ma questa è bellissima, quasi da "storie della sala macchine"... :ROTFL:
dai no ti preoccupare, quandi si è alle prime armi capitano queste cose...
