problema partizione ubuntu - xp

salve a tutti ...

Sul mio toshiba ho partizionato l'hd mettendoci ubuntu e windows xp ...

Avendo aggiornato la versione di ubuntu dalla 6 all 8.04 , al boot quando devo scegliere quale sistema operativo far avviare mi compaiono un sacco di kernel di linux e una sola riga di windows ...

Come posso togliere tutti quei kernel lasciando solo quello che mi interessa ?

sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst

cancella le righe (in fondo al file) dei kernel che non ti interessano.
anzi,mettici davanti  ##  forse è meglio.poi salvi e riavvii

perchè darebbe problemi in caso di aggiornamento automagico del grub, inoltre lasciare dei kernel inutili ha poco senso

in synaptic cerca linux, ti compaiono i vari kernel generic, tu vedi quello più recente e rimuovi tutti  gli altri (magari lascia il penultimo, 2 kernel fanno comodo)

perchè se per qualche problema uno non si avvia più, ha un bug, è incompatibile con qualcosa, e quello vecchio andava... avvii ubuntu con quello vecchio

se hai intrepid non usare la funzione ricerca rapida, non trova niente... se invece hai cercato normalmente può essere che tu non abbia un kenrel generic ma uno specifico, basta leggere nel grub che cosa hai...


mi sa che dovrai pagarmi per il corso di informatica che ti sto offrendo in questi giorni  (rotfl) va ben dai una volta che avrai assimilato tante conoscenze farai ancora di più il supporter nel forum

ho usato la ricerca ma ho hardy....
non è che li volevo togliere,era solo per curiosità...come dici tu

ok basta comunque vedere nel menu.list (o nella cartella boot) che kernel hai, o anche da terminale, quindi su synaptic vai sul sicuro, dato che al 90% gli utenti hanno un generic io passo subito al sodo

ho intallato sul mio pc ubuntu 8.10, e funziona benissimo devo dire. Purtroppo per problemi di lavoro devo reinstallare in una partizione winxp. Ho seguito una guida.....installato xp e editato grub....e qui sta il problema. Ubuntu parte perfettamente, mentre quando tento di far partire xp mi da "errore 1" o a volte errore 21. Ora...ho tentato di risolvere da solo, quindi probabilmente ho incasinato un po di cose.......

error 21 è perchè cerca il grub in un hd che devi avere rimosso... error 1 non me lo ricordo, comunque prova a cambiare le righe per xp con queste:
