salve a tutti !
problemino !
stavo smanettando con i driver della scheda video posseggo una nvidia 5200 fx
ho cambiato i driver da NN a nvidia fx
ho chiuso tutto e ho fatto ripartire il mio bel KUbuNTU
ma !
non parte più nulla o meglio carica tutti i file e si ferma sulla schermata Kubuntu !
aiuto sono alle prime esperienze e dopo vari passaggi da suse a mandrake pensavo di finire con Kubuntu !!!

quando arrivi alla sezione dei driver metti nv, o se hai installato quelli ufficiali metti nvidia.

cosi si dice dalle mie parti
ho messo una risoluzione un po strana !!!!!! 1152x768
cmq questa operazione si puo ripetere e posso inserire altre risoluzioni penso !
se nn è cosi .............ti prego dimmelo
adesso se sei disposto a spiegarmi come installare i driver che ho scricato dal sito nvidia

Scherzo, ho capito il senso

C'è una wiki apposita per installare quei driver.
Io personalmente preferisco usare lo script di tseliot.
Qui puoi scaricarlo http://www.albertomilone.eu/ubuntu/nvid ... vy_8762_32 e per installarlo http://www.albertomilone.eu/europeo/nvi ... ipts1.html
In poche parole devi fare due cose:
Uscire da X con Ctrl+Alt+F1
Fare il login, se te lo chiede, posizionarti nella cartella dove hai scaricato lo script:

cd /cartella/dello/script

è solo un esempio eh!
e poi

sudo chmod a+x envy_8762_32

e infine

sudo ./envy_8762_32

poi quando te lo chiede dai "yes".

di nuovo

mi rimanda un impossibilità di continuare perchè manca "ls"

dimentica il messaggio precedente a questo !!!!!!!!!!
quello dell'errore al secondo comando !!
ho rifatto tutto proprio ora ed è andato tutto bene fino quasi alla fine :'(
dopo che lo script ha scaricato l'impossibile dalla rete compreso quel file run che già avevo
ho dato yes a tre domande in inglese ......non chiedermi cosa dicevano ||
tutto si è fermato come doveva ..........e ho dato il restart !
ma x non è più ripartito !
allora ho riavviato (sempre da riga di comando ) per vedere se ripartiva ........ma.......
è tornata la schermata blu di Kubuntu ed il sistema non parte
ho rifatto la configurazione manuale " sudo dpkg-reconfigure !

La pazienza non manca.

Posta il file nvidia-installer.log che trovi in /var/log
Da lì si può capire cosa sia andato storto.

Nel frattempo se hai bisogno dellìinterfaccia grafica riconfigura xserver e scegli i driver vesa.

A me pare tutto a posto, non vedo messaggi d'errore.
Quando hai rifatto la configurazione di Xorg e poi non partica X cosa ci hai messo a driver? nvidia?

Dato che sono ormai un "veterano" con errori di driver nvidia + kbuntu, posso consigliarti di seguire questa guida? L'ha scritta lo stesso ragazzo che ha fatto lo script che ti ha consigliato Tyler (ero l'unico a cui lo script non andava).
Segui il metodo 1 e dovresti risolvere tutto.

poi ..........
prima di andare a dormire ho notato una cosa !
nel menu di k
alla voce "sistema " e nata una nuova voce !!

Nvidia x server setting !!!

poi ho guardato "impostazioni di sistema "
clic icona x
e il driver è sempre lo stesso nv
un altra cosa
quando riavvio non vedo il famoso logo nvidia
ma !
che handicappato informatico sono !!! ???
pensa che non riesco ad installare nemmeno opera
e non sento nemmeno un mp3 con amok
tutte cose che prima o poi riuscirò a capire .................

speriamo prima che poi !

I driver devono essere impostati su nvidia, non su nv
Ovviamente deve esserci quella voce nella lista dei driver, mi sembra strano che non c'è se lo script non ha restituito errori.

Puoi anche solo editare xorg.conf

sudo kate /etc/X11/xorg.conf

arrivi alla sezione della scheda video e ai driver cambi nv con nvidia.
Riavvii il server X.

Se non vedi niente rimetti nv.
Fuori dall'ambiente grafico puoi usare nano invece di kate o kwrite
