Problema con scheda grafica nVidia

ciao ragazzi,

ho un problema con la scheda grafica (che mi sono accorto solo dopo 1 mese di utilizzo di ubuntu di avere (rotfl))

comunque ecco il mio problema:

ho provato ad abilitare gli effetti grafici del desktop, mi dice di abilitare un driver di accelerazione 3D per la mia scheda grafica (che non so dirvi precisamente quale è [mi sembra ci fosse un comando per il terminale per vedere che scheda è] comunque so per certo che è una nVidia GeForce)

allora io abilito il driver, mi chiede di riavviare per rendere effettive le modifiche e allora riavvio, ma quando si avvia, la risoluzione cala a picco, ovvero più o meno passo da una 1200x800 a una 600x400 (grosso modo) e quest'ultima è il massimo che io possa utilizzare.

qualcuno ha qualche ideuzza?

Posta il tuo xorg.conf e marca e modello del monitor. Poi per conoscere il tipo di scheda video da terminale

Nel tuo caso devi guardare la sezione riguardante i Driver nvidia-glx

Per abilitare il driver è sufficiente digitare il seguente comando in una finestra di terminale:

Allora se hai già installato i drivers nvidia, prova a modificare il tuo xorg.conf così

Salva prima una copia del tuo xorg.conf

Poi modificalo

Riavvia la sessione e vedi come va. In caso di problemi potrai sempre ripristinare il tuo vecchio xorg.conf.

abilitato i drivers in che senso? cioè da driver hardware abilitato quel driver che mi fa scendere la risoluzione?
