sparito windows xp da dev/sda1

ho cercato di installare il programma XBMC su usb da cd live ,con l'unico risultato che non si avvia più windows.
Aprendo gparted vedo che il file system risulta sconosciuto. DEvo reinstallare xp o è possibile recuperarlo?

Scusa per la risposta in ritardo.
Da quello che vedo sembra tutto a posto. Non saprei... L'unica cosa che mi viene in mente è che magari ai rovinato il boot loader di Windows. Pero per quello servirebbe l'oppinione di qualcuno più esperto. Da quello che vedo, mi sembra che fdisk dice che il filesystem sembra a posto su Windows. Ma sarebbe gradito il parere di qualcuno più esperto

Se avvii ubuntu riesci a leggere sda1? Ci sono le cartelle di sistema di Windows (Documents and Settings, Programs, Windows....)?
Se ti rendi conto di avere danneggiato il MBR, lo puoi recuperare da qui, scegliendo se:
1. recuperare quello di windows http://wiki.ubuntu-it.org/Amministrazio ... ight=(mbr)
2. aggiornare grub http://wiki.ubuntu-it.org/Amministrazio ... perareGrub

Come non lo vedi più? Compare in fdisk formattato NTFS, non riesci ad accedere dal menù risorse a quella partizione?

Si, se lo installi nello stesso MBR. Vista la tua configurazione con 2 dischi, potresti installare windows su sda e poi linux su sdb, e i MBR sui relativi dischi. Se da BIOS avvii sda parte windows, se avvii sdb grub ti farà scegliere.

Se la partizione non è accessibile, non ne capisci il contenuto e non hai dati da recuperare forse la via più breve è un formattore terapeutico e successivamente il ripristino di grub per avviare linux. Non è che XBMC usa NTFS e hai piallato sda1?

XBMC mi chiedeva dove installarsi,offrendomi l'opzione sdc1(usb)che mi sembra di avere scelto (??)
