[Compiz] Impossibile attivare effetti grafici

Credo che l'impossibilità di far partire compiz sia una misura preventiva messa per evitare che al riavvio si blocchi tutto appena dopo il gdm. In effetti compiz parte con un po' di smanettamenti e funziona benino (non riesco ad escludere o attivare alcuni plugin) ma al riavvio lo schermo diventa bianco e inattivo appena dopo il gdm.

Potrebbe anche dipendere da altro in effetti. Per quanto ho potuto vedere finora karmic è un colabrodo

Riesci ad escludere il plugin "Animazioni" o ti si riseleziona da solo subito dopo?

per favore aiutatemi non so più cosa fare, ho sempre trovato la soluzione ai problemi su questo forum ma stavolta niente...cominciamo dall'inizio.
Avevo installata la 9.04, tutto ok funzionava alla grande, effetti compresi. Nel fare l'upgrade qualcosa è andato storto e così ho deciso di fare un format e installazione pulita della 9.10.
Non riuscivo ad abilitare gli effetti grafici (ho una ATI 9600 pro), provando le cose consigliate in questo post ad un certo punto sono partiti. Quando la volta successiva ho riacceso il pc nulla, e da allora non sono più ripartiti. Un paio di volte ho provato ad aggiornare i driver ma al riavvio ottenevo una schermata bianca oppure la riga di comando intermittente. Siccome la prima (ed unica) volta che gli effeti hanno funzionato avevo i driver di default, ho riformattato ed evitato di aggiornarli.
Vi posto un po' di output dei soliti comandi, ditemi cosa posso provare.

Allora, ti dico come ho fatto io ad avere, smanettando parecchio, compiz attivo con la tua stessa scheda.

ATTENZIONE: PROCEDURA DI CUI NON MI ASSUMO NESSUNA RESPONSABILITÀ PRIMA LEGGERE TUTTO

1) installare il kernel più recente che trovi qua: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/

2) editare /usr/bin/compiz sostituendo /usr/local/.... con /usr/....

3) riavviare controllando che tutto funzioni. Avviare compiz. Se non funziona c'è un errore nell'editare. Stop, non so che fare.

5) Avviare compiz dalla finestra "Aspetto" e riavviare. Se compiz rimane al riavvio bene, se non rimane creare una voce in Applicazioni d'avvio che lo avvi tutte le volte.

ho provato prima con questo ma nada.
così dal suo link ho scaricato ed installato l'ultimo (ad oggi 2.6.32-999-generic) e al riavvio compiz si è avviato correttamente.

Ciao a tutti,
scusate se mi intrometto ma ho lo stesso problema di non riuscire ad attivare gli effetti grafici, oltre ad avere dei problemi di riconoscimento del monitor. Ho un IBM ThinkCentre A30 8189 72G con processore Intel Celeron 2.4G e scheda grafica integrata Intel 845G/845GL/84 e il monitor è un Samsung 22".
Partiamo dal problema del rinoscimento dello schermo. In random il monitor non viene riconosciuto già all' avvio ma il fatto che non venga riconosciuto in questa fase non esclude che venga poi riconosciuto all' avvio dell' SO. Quando il monitor non viene riconosciuto ho una risolizione 800x600, vado su schermo e per riconoscere il monitor devo cliccare più volte e velocemente su individua monitor. Quando il monitor viene riconosciuto posso impostare la risoluzione 1680X1050 (16:10).
Gli effetti grafico non sono comunque impostabili e non è presente nessun driver proprietario.

Non credo tu possa attivare compiz con quella scheda. Se guardi il contenuto di /usr/bin/compiz con un editor di testo vedrai una sezione "blacklist": se la memoria non mi inganna il tuo chip è inserito nella lista.

Con "sudo gedit /usr/bin/compiz" potresti eliminare la blacklist commentando la riga relativa al driver (basta mettere un # prima, con gedit dovrebbe diventare blu) , ovviamente a tuo rischio e pericolo... se l'hanno messo in blacklist un motivo ci sarà.

Per il monitor penso che ti convenga creare uno xorg.conf, che modello di monitor hai?

Ho eliminato la scheda dalla blacklist e all' avvio mi riconosce il monitor sempre in random e nulla è cambiato, nel sense che non vi sono miglioramenti ne problemi.
Il monitor è un Samsung 225MW.
Se non ho speranze per attivare gli effetti del desktop quale scheda grafica sulla PCI ( non PCI e) potrei installare?
Ma non ho davvero speranze con la scheda integrata Intel 845G/GL ?

@ avalon64: per il fatto che lo schermo non venga riconosciuto non saprei,prova a postare il tuo Xorg.0.log(lo trovi nella cartella /var/log). Riguardo agli effetti che non partono ho il sospetto che la scheda sia troppo poco "potente" per far andare compiz a quella risoluzione/schermo...
Apri un terminale,dai questi comandi:
