ciao a tutti,
ho lo stesso problema, possiedo un asus x71sl, ho disabilitato la sis190 e sembra che non si blocchi più il sistema ma ho visto che Giaccava ha risolto completamente il problema installando i backports ma non ho capito come si fa, da dove li recupero?
vi ringrazio anticipatamente per le risposte, forse questa è la volta buona che formatto la partizione di windows. :)

mi unisco anche io, sono nella stessa situazione di hellscream, ho un Asus X59SL series.
ho installato il kernel suggerito ma Karmic continua a bloccarsi  :'(

i backports si trovano sul gestore pacchetti. dopo aver fatto un aggiornamento dei pacchetti, cercate il pacchetto linux-backports-modules-karmic. selezionatelo per l'installazione (se ne tirerà dietro altri 2 simili). riavviate e siete a posto.

Perfetto!
Il pacchetto linux-backports-modules-karmic ho scoperto di avercelo già installato e non so perchè avevo preso paura riguardo la sua installazione  :-[

Comunque il suddetto paccheto non mi ha risolto la situazione ma sembra che abbia risolto installando wicd:
- non si blocca più il sistema con la sis190 non blacklistata
- durante i lunghi download non perdo la connessione wireless(non ve l'avevo detto perchè pensavo dipendesse dal router di alice) che potevo recuperare solo riavviando il router.

insomma funziona tutto alla perfezione!  (good)
