Problemi con masterizzatore usb

Ciao, non riesco ad utilizzare un masterizzatore usb esterno, un hp cd-writer 8200 series. L'ho inserito e con dmesg mi dice:

Se cerco di montare /dev/sda fallisce e in dmesg trovo messaggi tipo quelli già riportati. Che il problema sia appunto "Driver 'sd' needs updating"? Cosa vuol dire usare il bus_type method?
