Introduction
============

  odvr is a user-space driver for Olympus digital voice recorders that do not
support USB Mass Storage. Not all formats are directly supported
(sandec/PULCOD), and functionality is limited, but basic download and listing
capabilities are implemented.


Building
========

  There is no configure script at this time. Libusb and libsndfile,
and their associated development headers, are required. To build, run:

$ make odvr

  A static x86 linux binary is included as odvr.x86.


Installing
==========

 1. Build odvr.
 2. Run "make install" as root.
 3. If you are not running Ubuntu, modify "41-odvr.rules" to fit your distro
    and install it. Don't forget to reload the udev rules. The other option is
    to run odvr as root, but this is not recommended.


Running
=======

  odvr *requires* access to the user-space USB interface. It is recommended
to place "41-odvr.rules" into "/etc/udev/rules.d" or setup your own udev rules
rather than running odvr as root. After changing udev rules, don't forget to
run "udevcontrol reload_rules" and to replugin your DVR.

  Again, root privileges are required unless udev is properly setup.

  For the impatient, run the following to test odvr:

$ sudo odvr -l

sono nuovo del forum e mi aggiungo con le senguenti considerazioni.
Ho installato odvr nella versione  0.1.4.1 dal paccetto .deb. Funziona bene, ma come è noto non può scaricare file registrati in alta qualità. Su http://code.google.com/p/odvr/downloads/list ho travato la versione 0.1.5 che potrebbe scaricare tutti i formati. Il problema è che quando vado a compilare il programma mi salta fuori il seguente errore.

Odvr va usato da terminale con privilegi d'amministrazione. Per una lista dei comandi:

riporto su la discussione, a me non rileva il mio olympus VN480PC e dandogli sudo odvr -h, mi dice command not found, ho scaricato il pacchetto e l'ho estratto nella home, ma non riesco a farlo funzionare...qualcuno può aiutarmi (nella repository non risulta nulla come odvr), grazie Paolo

Scusa, ma mi sembra di capire che hai usato il sorgente. Scarica il pacchetto deb dal sito del programma: http://code.google.com/p/odvr/downloads/list.

Poi, è sufficiente installarlo con GDebi o Ubuntu Software Center.

io ho provato e riprovato, non mi funge!m sopratutto lo estraggo nella home e poi ubuntu software center non me lo rileva..

In che senso lo estrai?  ???

Dovresti semplicemente scaricare il file con estensione .deb (odvr[***]i386 se hai usi Ubuntu per sistemi a 32 bit, odvr[***]AMD64 se usi la versione 64 bit); poi, senza scompattare o estrarre nulla, cliccare col tasto destro sul file e selezionare dal menu "Apri con Ubuntu Software Center".

io l'ho installato come hai detto  te, sollegando l'plympus, non vede nulla nè trovo ovdr per lanciarlo...ho un VN480 pc

così me lo rileva..cioè nel terminale mi viene scritto il modello di olympus, a questo punto cosa dovrei fare? grazie delle risposte Paolo

super menata, avrei scoperto l'arcano, odvr funziona solo da terminale, dove si lancia con sudo odvr -n, dopodichè si dà il comando sudo odvr -d a (nel caso la mia registrazione sia nel folder "a" e me lo scarica nella home, decisamente poco pratico ma tant'è, la soluzione l'ho trovata qui http://forum.ubuntu-it.org/index.php?action=printpage;topic=388640.0
