Mi sono arenato!!!
Ho fatto una stupidaggine... dopo aver seguito bene la guida ed essere riuscito a scaricare il file spca5xx-source.tar.bz2, averlo scompattato, mi sono confuso al momento della patch.diff... e (come dire) ho perso il filo.
In pratica ero riuscito a scaricare il file spca5xx-source.tar.bz2 in /usr/src, ma la patch mi sembrava non funzionare bene... quindi mi sono detto..."vabbè, visto che ancora non ho installato nulla, ricomincio daccapo, dopo aver cancellato i file che si sono andati a posizionare sotto /usr/src..."
Non lo avessi mai fatto!!! Ora non riesco più a scaricare il file spca5xx-source.tar.bz2...sono riuscito a scaricare il file spca5xx-20060501.tar.gz, ma sinceramente non me la sento di andare avanti e fare qualche altra fesseria.
Chiedo quindi se c''è qualche soluzione perchè possa rimediare alla stupidaggine che ho fatto... senza dover re-installare tutto Ubuntu.
P.S.: vi copio ciò che mi restituisce il terminale dopo il comando sudo apt-get install spca5xx-source

Ho seguito attentamente tutte le istruzioni comprese nella guida di Hayabusa, ma ancora del famoso /dev/video0 non c''è traccia nel mio sistema operativo!!!
La installazione l''ho fatta a regola d''arte... ma non c'' è niente da fare!!!

Per vedere l''id della cam, che è il solo dato che ti può dare la certezza che il tuo hardware sia esattamente quello supportato dal modulo (la mia, ad esempio, ha lo stesso nome di quelle vecchie, ma è diversa)
Se è effettivamente quello e il modulo è stato compilato ed installato correttamente, si caricherà da solo creando il nodo.
Se hai paura di aver sbagliato la compilazione, puoi usare module-assistant che fa la stessa cosa ma è più semplice.

- Che ti ha detto quando hai applicato la patch?
- Che ti ha detto module-assistant?
- Module assistant ti ha creato un file che si chiama tipo spca5xx-modules-2.6.17-10-generic_20060501-1+2.6.17-10.33_i386.deb ("tipo" vuol dire che può anche chiamarsi in maniera un po'' differente) nella cartella in cui eri quando hai lanciato module-assistant?

Ergo non è detto che funzioni patchando. La patch serve per il mio preciso modello di cam, e tu ne hai una differente. Se non funziona con quel modulo così com''è, nella migliore delle ipotesi serve un altro modulo o un''altra patch. Avere "installato i sorgenti" non vuol dire avere installato il modulo (che viene creato compilando i sorgenti: module-assistant fa proprio quello)

Se non ci sono, la tua cam (al momento) non funziona con quei driver, ma puoi cercare su google se ci sono altre soluzioni (tipo patch). Se ci sono, non dovresti avere problemi semplicemente lanciando module-assistant.

La seconda cosa che mi dice è che probabilmente tu hai una scheda tv, quindi la cam diventerà /dev/video1 e camorama dovrà essere caricato di conseguenza.
Questi sono i dati della tua cam (che ho usato anche nel modprobe sopra): 041e vuol dire "creative" e 4053 rappresenta il modello. Risulta supportata dal modulo, quindi deve funzionare senza troppi smanettamenti.Bus 004 Device 003: ID 041e:4053 Creative Technology, Ltd

Visto che ti dice "see dmesg", che dice dmesg?
Di solito quell''errore te lo da quando il parametro che gli metti (il productId) non è nella sua lista.

Dopo che hai dato "sudo modprobe spca5xx" le ultime righe di dmesg che dicono?
Quando arrivo a casa provo un po' più in diretta (adesso sto andando a memoria)
Al limite provo a mandarti il .deb già compilato, che se hai edgy fresca d'installazione dovrebbe funzionarti.

sai niente di una spacecam 150? Ho provato un po' a seguire la tua guida. La webcam sembra accesa, perchè la luce lo è. Kopete vede una webcam, ma non sembra funzionare. La apro e mi rallenta tutto il pc, la finestra rimane bloccata etc etc.
