Errore Download ubuntu 9.04

Buongiorno a tutti. Ho installato da cd ubuntu 8.10.
Volevo fare l'aggiornamento all'ultima versione ma quando vado su system->amministrazione->gestione aggiornamenti e gli do check lui comincia a scaricare tutti i pacchetti ma sullo status mi dice Failed.
Poi viene fuori un messaggio d'errore con scritto

Could not download all repository indexes

The repository may no longer be available or could not be contacted because of network problems. If available an older version of the failed index will be used. Otherwise the repository will be ignored. Check your network connection and ensure the repository address in the preferences is correct.

Clicco close e provo a cliccare su Upgroud per installare la 9.04. Clicco Upgroud e mi viene fuoi il seguente messaggio d'errore

Failed to extract

Extracting the upgrade failed. There may be a problem with the network or with the server.

Che devo fare?

la 9.04 non è più supportata
devi installare una versione più recente (previo salvataggio dei dati se non hai la home separata)
