[RISOLTO]identificazione hw wireless

Ho acquistato un Acer Aspire One al quale è stata sostituita dal precedente proprietario la scheda wireless; l'intenzione (sua) era fare un hackintosh quindi ha sostituito l'hardware originale con una scheda che include wifi e bluetooth.
Installo Ubuntu e il risultato è >"wireless not ready - firmware missing".
Come faccio a sapere che razza di scheda monta il mio Aspire, e come farla funzionare?
Mi pare strano che funzionasse col MacOSX e Ubuntu non la riconosca...

Novità. Connesso con cavo ethernet, sta facendo aggiornamenti di sistema, e mi ha proposto di aggiornare il driver esterno per la scheda wireless STA:
This package contains Broadcom 802.11 Linux STA wireless driverfor use with Broadcom's BCM4311-, BCM4312-, BCM4313-, BCM4321-,BCM4322-, BCM43224-, and BCM43225-, BCM43227- and BCM43228-basedhardware.

Avvio l'aggiornamento, ma il tutto naufraga col seguente messaggio:

il contenuto di detto file è più lungo di 40000 caratteri e non posso postarlo qui...

La scheda di rete wireless è disabilitata, non appare il dispositivo logico eth1 o wlan1.

davvero strano... mezzora prima che io installassi Ubuntu, su questo portatile girava Snow Leopard e la wlan funzionava!

Hai fatto una ricerca prima di postare? Ci sono molti topic identico a questo,vedi esempio.
Devi installare firmware-b43-installer dai repository, e caricare il modulo b43 al posto di wl.

Già fatto Roby, su suggerimento di Magozurlinux ho installato b43 ma il problema non si è ancora risolto.

una volta appreso che la scheda è una Dell 1390, ho googlato un po' e andando un po' alla cieca ho seguito questo thread:

e adesso sono collegato in wireless non più via etherent.
