[RISOLTO] Dual boot winz xp e ubuntu

Ciao a tutti so che questa discussione è stata gia aperta varie volte ma non sono riuscito a trovarne una che andasse bene al caso mio .... naturalmente è superfluo aggiungere che sono nuovo di ubuntu.....

Ecco la mia situazione:

1)HARD DISK SATA con win xp (bad)
2)HARD DISK IDE con ubuntu 6.10 (good)

da BIOS ho settato come hard disk di boot quello IDE con UBUNTU e sto provando a configurare GRUB (installato su ubuntu) per avere in avvio il menu con cui volendo scelgo winxp. Ecco un estratto del il mio file menu.lst:

Come ho letto da vari post devo aggiungere a questa lista qualcosa tipo:

e commentare con un # la voce hiddenmenu cosi da avere il menu di scelta in avvio senza dover premere ESC.

ARRIVIAMO AL MIO DUBBIO ??? ...da /etc/fstab io leggo questa riga -----> /dev/sda1 /media/windows ntfs-3g
deduco quindi che il mio hard disk con win xp si chiami sda1 (o almeno credo...). QUINDI che cosa metto tra parentesi in
rootnoverify ()?devo mettere hd1,0 o altro???

Ci sono altre cose che ho dimenticato di fare per avere questo menu di scelta in avvio? Datemi una mano.....Grazie a chiunque risponda! (b2b)

Ciao ho fatto quanto mi hai detto ma non funziona (sicuramente è colpa mia )
Vedo il menu di avvio e win xp ci sta, se lo seleziono e clicco grub mi da:

Ho letto che GRUB non accetta denominazioni tipo sd0,0 ma è vero?? e come faccio a fargli riconoscere il mio HARD DISK SATA con WIN XP

dovrebbe essere proprio (hd1,0), GRUB numera dischi e partizioni dallo zero e non gl'importa se il disco è ATA o SATA ma com'è impostato il BIOS, quindi per esempio la prima partizione sul primo disco sarà ovviamente 0,0 mentre la terza sul secondo disco 1,2

da BIOS ho settato come hard disk di boot quello IDE con UBUNTU

quindi per GRUB il SATA con winz dovrebbe essere il secondo disco (hd1,0)

Innanzitutto ringrazio chi ha risposto!

La mia situazione è quella descritta da chris70:

Da Bios ho settato come HARD DISK PRINCIPALE l'IDE con UBUNTU. Quindi il primo hard disk hd0,0 è ubuntu 6.10.

Correttamente chris70 mi ha consigliato di mettere in menu.lst hd(1,0) l'ho fatto ed effettivamente l'errore che mi dava GRUB è sparito ma WIN NON PARTE LOSTESSO!!

Se Scelgo win xp dal menu compare la scritta "starting up..." e non succede piu nulla, l'unica cosa che posso fare è riavviare il pc!

Mi rimane qualche dubbio sulle altre righe che ho preso da una guida e di cui ignoro il significato profondo :

makeactive
chainloader +1
boot

Sono corrette??
Che cosa sto sbagliando? Se vi serve qualcosa per capire meglio il problema ve lo posto.

pare che winz rifiuti di avviarsi se capisce di non essere sul disco primario, quindi bisogna fregarlo, qui http://www.gentoo.org/doc/it/faq.xml dicono di fare così

Questo escamotage mi sembra ottimo. Me ne aveva parlato anche un amico che utilizza gentoo.

Ash 82, io sono messo nella tua stessa identica situazione, se riesci a sbrogliare la matassa con questo trucchetto fammelo sapere che provvedo subito anch''io a modificare il file menu.lst .

per chiunque abbia i miei stessi problemi riepilogo la mia situazione e i consigli che mi hanno aiutato (grazie a tutti!) a risolvere!

Sul mio pc io ho:

Le righe concernenti windows le sposterei dopo la riga "### END DEBIAN AUTOMAGIC KERNELS LIST", altrimenti la prossima volta che grub fa un aggiornamento automatico quelle righe ti spariscono.

xp è inserito nella partizione hdd3
