HAL failed to initialize! cosè? perchè?

Ciao a tutti ... e allora sono passato da poco alla Edgy a 64 bit sul mio potatile un asus A6000kt, a parte un paio di problemi di installazione banali.. tipo disattivare lo splash nella stringa di boot e dover staccare il mouse altrimenti si blocca al boot del kernel i problemi principali sono .. il fatto che X non si avvia automaticamente ma mi fa effettuare il login da terminale e dopo aver avviato il server con startx parte tutto ma mi appare una finestra di errore che mi dice Failed to inizialize HAL.

Inoltre ho notato che mi mancano , i permessi "da root" per alcuni file di configurazione tipo Xauthority e altro... ma è possibile cosa può essere successo? :o :o :o :o :o

HAL nonè un pacchetto indispensabile. Credo che serva (insieme ad altri pacchetti) per effettuare l'automount, per esempio quando inserisci un CD. Prendilo con le pinze. Magari qualcuno può essere più preciso.

Preoccupati casomai del discorso del mouse, non mi pare tanto normale. Ciao.

Per il problema del mouse .. il fatto è che l'ACPI non funziona se tengo collegato il mouse al momento dell'accensione e mi va a bloccare il boot del kernel
quindi avvio senza mouse collegato e funziona tutto.. ??? ???

Inoltre se aggiungo noapic e live acpi=off in menu.lst non mi da problemi ma ovviamente non funziona più l'acpi!
Inoltre rimane un problema che avevo con la Dapper a 64bit (sono passato alla edgy sperando che si risolvesse) ovvero VLC Mplayer Totem e tutti i programmi per i video mi provocano un crash di Gnome e mi ritrovo nella finestra di login.... mi sto veramente seccando! :'( :'(

Ati E SIS... ahiai ahiai ahiai (z)

Non conosco le aTI, ma è quasi tutto riconducibile alla scheda video e ad i suoi driver, e i 64bit contano poco in tutto questo, l'unica cosa che ti posso dire, e di fare una buona ricerca.

Sono tornato alla vecchia e cara dapper a 32 bit.. e funziona quasi tutto... appena avro tempo e voglia riproverò la versione a 64 bit ma per ora va bene così anche perchè non ho notato miglioramenti nelle prestazioni nella versione a 64bit.

Speriamo che nella feisty farm appena ne uscirà una versione stabile ci possa essere la soluzione al mio problema. :-\

quello che posso dire per chi è incontra problemi come i miei e che secondo me tutto il danno sta nel dbus, io ho provato a installare l'ultima versione scaricandola da package.debian.org e anche quella di hal ma non ho risolto nulla ... magari provando qualche versione precendete si poteva
smanettate un pò su quello ciao.

il problema di HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) su edgy 64bit credo sia un bug (non so se relativo solo agli Asus a6 o ai 64bit in generale)
Ho avuto lo stesso problema http://forum.ubuntu-it.org/viewtopic.php?t=50594 e altri ne hanno avuto di simili http://forum.ubuntu-it.org/viewtopic.php?t=52402
(da qualche parte in uno di questi 2 thread c'è il link al bug su launchpad)

ma se provassi a compilare manualmente l ultima versione del kernel?
infatti (se non ho capito male) a partire dalla versione 2.6.19 il bug dovrebbe essere risolto....

Pierissimo se vuoi tentare la ricompilazione vai pure tranquillo, male che vada se il kernel ricompilatoti da problemipuoi sempre caricare da grub la versione precedente e rimuovere quella che ti da problemi.

Sul forum poi ci sono sicuramente tanti 3d a riguardo che in caso di problemi ti possono aiutare

si il fatto è che se collaboravamo insieme potevamo trovare la configurazione corretta....
