[Install] Aiutoooo! Problema installazione

Ciao a tutti, sono nuovo del forum, essendo appena entrato nel mondo linux (portate pazienza...).
Ho installato ubuntu, configurato la rete, aggiunto sofware con synaptic, personalizzato un pò di cose, insomma, funziona tutto (tranne il modem interno del mio notebook... (bad)), ora volevo installare gimpshop ma quando faccio ./configure mi da questo errore:

Ho provato a cercare che è sto checking whether make sets... ma non ho trovato nulla che riuscisse a farmelo capire >:(
Potete aiutarmi in qualche modo? Lo so che per voi sarà una cacchiata ma non so più dove sbatter la testa!

un buon inizio può essere di installare il compilatore c di cui ha bisogno, per farlo vai su synaptic , cerchi e installi: gcc ,cc,cl tutto.

più che altro ti manca il pacchetto build-essential ...(sudo apt-get install buil-essential) che si trova nei repo multiverse e nel cd di k/ubuntu ...installati anche le gcc-3.4 e gcc-3.4-base
