Su QUESTA pagine (online già da ieri alle 23) i link per il download portano a pagine che non esistono  (nono)

Ancora non è stata rilasciata ufficialmente, siamo ancora in fase di freeze del main e quindi il rilascio è imminente. I ritardi sono dati anche dal fatto che alcuni aggiornamenti di sicurezza (questo, per esempio) non sono stati correttamente pacchettizzati causa il processo di freeze. La situazione dovrebbe risolversi entro pochissimi giorni.

The primary focus during the time from Herd 2 has been feature
development.  Please refer to http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/herd3 for

This is an early set of images, so you can expect some bugs. Among
these are the following (so you do not need to bother reporting these
if you encounter them):

* The alternate i386 install CD takes a very long time (about five
  minutes) to do hardware detection on some machines.  During that
  period, the installer will look like it has hung or
  blue-screened.  Adding hw-detect/start_pcmcia=false to the kernel
  command line works around this problem.

* We have switched the partitioning tool in the desktop installer to
  another implementation.  The user interface of the manual
  partitioning tool is not finished, but we would very much like to
  receive bugs about crashes and other, non-user interface related
  problems.

  If the new partitioner does not work for you, you can use the old
  partitioner by opening a terminal and running
  "ubiquity --old-partitioner".

* GNOME Power Manager does not start by default due to a packaging
  error.  It can be started by hand by running "gnome-power-manager"
  from the Run dialog (Accessed by pressing F2).

Ah...vabe ora non sto con ubuntu...l'ho tolta perchè la connessione wireless funzionava 1 min si e 2 no...aspetterò tempi migliori.

PS: a me questo "Centrol di controllo" non piace assolutamente...sarà possibile toglierlo e mantenere la classica configurazione?

Se l'installazione della nuova va a buon fine il sistema sarà certamente più pulito.
Ma so che le iso hanno dato problemi (anche a me con la herd2 che non completava la procedura) con l'installazione.

Non conosco la situazione della herd 3 (ma mi interesserebbe saperla).

CHIARO!!! Anche a me con la 2 non completava l'istallazione!! Ho provato la 3 e ho notato che hanno inserito uno strumento ottimo per la rete (anche wi-fi) e anche una specie di "pannello di controllo"(non ricordo il vero nome)  che riassume bene "preferenze" e "amministrazione"!! Non sono riuscito ad installare perché durante la procedura non compare più g-parted ma una cosa molto più schematica e ho lasciato perdere perché non avevo tempo!! Comunque ottimo!! Ci manca solo il Beryl!!  (rotfl)

ho letto che Kubuntu ha il nuovo Knetworkmanager per la gestione semiautomatica ( o automatica?? ) delle schede wireless...
Ma Ubuntu ha una cosa simile???
Spero mi rispondiate prima che inizi a scaricare GB di roba inutile...
( è per un amico che preferisce Gnome...)

Non credo, almeno non con la configurazione attuale.
