[Risolto]Reinstallare 14.04 o passare a 16.04?
Ciao a tutti,
4 anni fa ho acquistato un pc desktop anche grazie a questo forum. La configurazione è questa:
Asrock 890GX extreme3 - AMD Phenom X6 1090T - Nvidia Geforce GTX 560Ti - 8GB ram Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 - 2 HDD 500GB - Win 7 + Ubuntu 14.04 in dual boot.
Volendo fare un po' di upgrade, ho appena acquistato un SSD da 275 GB da affiancare agli altri due dischi. Voglio fare una installazione pulita sia di win che di ubuntu, ma a questo punto mi si presenta il dubbio se continuare ad usare 14.04 (che va benissimo e non mi ha mai dato problemi) o installare la 16.04. Al momento sto scaricando entrambe le versioni (14.04.5 e 16.04) per provare la 16 in live. Voi esperti cosa consigliate?

Concordo, la 14.04 ha già quasi 3 anni e andrà fuori supporto molto prima della 16.04.

Grazie mille, sto provando in questo momento la 16.04 in live, direi che funziona tutto. C'è qualcosa che devo controllare per essere sicuro che tutto l'hardware sia funzionante?
L'unico dubbio è che al comando "glxinfo | grep render" mi dice che mesa-utils non è installato e anche provando ad installarlo mi dice che non ci sono pacchetti disponibili. Comunque i video, anche in HD, funzionano e i driver proprietari Nvidia vengono trovati ed utilizzati.
In ogni caso, visti anche i vostri consigli, appena arriva l'ssd installo questa versione. Grazie!

Se vuoi puoi vedere, con il comando "sudo lshw", come viene riconosciuto dal sistema tutto l'hardware.

Quella è solo una parte, devi andare sul menu del terminale e nella configurazione togliere il limite alle righe dello "scorrimento".

Mi sembra che quanto da te descritto nel primo post a proposito dell'hardware trovi piena corrispondenza, quindi l'installazione non dovrebbe incontrare problemi in quel senso.
