cheese e guvcview non sono driver per webcam ma applicazioni atte a visualizzare le immagini riprese attraverso una webcam, quindi si aspettano che tale dispositivo sia già correttamente riconosciuto e pilotato dal tuo sistema, cosa che (dall'output di lsusb) è chiaro che non stia avvenendo.

Sempre con la webcam collegata al PC, prova a postare l'output di dmesg, magari viene fuori qualche messaggio interessante.

Fai così: scollega e ricollega la webcam al PC, apri il terminale e dai il comando

Da quello che capisco, io quella pagina non spiega come risolvere il problema del riconoscimento della webcam.

Al momento, tutto quello che ho da consigliarti, è di provare a vedere se la tua webcam viene riconosciuta usando una live tipo Ubuntu 18.04 / 18.10 , che hanno kernel e driver più aggiornati.

Premesso che, da quel poco che ho letto nel link che hai indicato, quel driver non mi sembra compatibile con la tua versione di kernel, la domanda è: per compilare il driver hai installato gli headers del tuo kernel ?

e ripeti la compilazione del driver (solo la compilazione del driver), non anche la sua installazione.


Nota: non sono ancora sicuro che quei sorgenti del driver siano compatibili con il tuo kernel. Dovrei guardare meglio il progetto.
