cpu sempre tra 90% e 100%

salve a tutti, sono nuovo di linux... ho installato kubuntu e ho la cpu che continua ad andare tra il 90% e il 100% e non capisco perchè...
le caratteristiche del mio computer sono queste:
amd athlon xp 2000+
1024 ram
scheda video ati radeon 9550
hdd western digital 7200 da 200 Gb
altro non vi so dire.... vi prego datemi una mano che sto schizzando pazzia da tutte le parti...

apri la konsole e digita il comando "top" (senza virgolette) ti appariranno i processi attivi ed in cima alla lista quelli che occupano di più, postaci qui quali per vedere quale è il processo incriminato

E' lo xorg, quindi un problema di scheda video e altre cose che girano intorno ad essa.
Vedo che hai attivo superkaramba, quale tema? hai per caso beryl o compiz?
Posta il tuo xorg.conf

e copi tutto quello che c'è scritto, quando posti certe cose lunghe è meglio se le inserisci con il tasto code, come ho fatto io col comando qua sopra, il tasto da utilizzare è quello con l'icona del cancelletto

per fortuna che ho kxdocker, esiste un sistema per farla tornare dall'oltre tomba????

Il tuo xorg.conf lo avevi cambiato, avevi fatto delle modifiche? mi sembra abbastanza incasinato, purtroppo io ho nvidia ed è diverso, ho fatto funzionare ad un mio amico con una ati del 1700 a.c. il 3d e da quello che mi ricordo non era così incasinato.
Hai già seguito le guide per installare i driver della scheda etc.etc.?

Si è questa per ripristinarla fai così
prendi il nome esatto della copia di backup e

sudo cp /etc/X11/nomeesattocopiadibackupconpunti.o_-trattini /etc/x11/xorg.conf

e riavvia X facendo ctrl+alt+backspace.
Quando segui le guide devi inserire le opzioni che mancano nel tuo xorg, ma nelle sezioni che già esistono o modificare opzioni che già esistono non crearne altre (es. se ti dice di mettere nella section server flags option "AIGLX" "true" e tu hai già "AIGLX" "off" non devi aggiungere devi solo modificare off in true)

Digita kcontrol in un terminale, poi li non so cerca nelle varie opzioni del dektop temi etc. non mi è mai capitato che sparisse :-\

che zonta... sei un genio.... ti dovrebbero dare una medaglia o forse meglio un mega pc.... ora la cpu gira tra i 30 e i 60% è giusto????

30 % è ancora tanto se non hai aperto niente, controlla sempre con top se è ancora lo xorg che occupa la cpu e prova a togliere l'ultima sezione quella aiglx off che non me la ricordo, e riavvia sempre il server X dopo le modifiche.
Per l'indirizzo a cui spedire il megacomputer ci accorderemo

Pensandoci su potresti togliere anche la sezione composite disable, che è sicuramente una aggiunta di qualche guida, poi di più non so perchè come ti ripeto con le nvidia è un pò diverso, dovrai aspettare qualche utente con ati.
Ricordati sempre di fare una copia di backup dell'ultima configurazione funzionante, sempre col comando

sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf_backup

così dopo qualche cambiamento se al riavvio X non parte e ti ritrovi nella shell può ripristinare con il comando dato 3 o 4 post sopra la configurazione funzionante

grazie mille lo stesso almeno si è dimezzata la percentuale ed è saltata fuori la barra... ci risentiremo nel forum....

se togli la sezione da te detta kxdocker va al rallentatore con dei difetti grafici allucinanti
