sembra che il driver uvcvideo abbia un bug impedendo di far funzionare correttamente le webcam con chipset UVC.

Prova con una live di Xubuntu 18.04 LTS o Linux Mint 19 xfce; questi hanno inclusa l'applicazione guvcview per webcam con chipset UVC.

Sul mio portatile un pò datato ho installato Linux Mint 19 xfce 64bit; funziona tutto compresa la webcam.

Ok, provo! Nel dubbio ho installato TLPUI per vedere se non mi si sospendesse la webcam con tlp. Non era nella blacklist! Così l'ho inserita. Ho riavviato ma niente, forse non centra niente questo?

Molto strano!

sembra che il driver uvcvideo abbia un bug impedendo di far funzionare correttamente le webcam con chipset UVC.

Prova con una live di Xubuntu 18.04 LTS o Linux Mint 19 xfce; questi hanno inclusa l'applicazione guvcview per webcam con chipset UVC.

Sul mio portatile un pò datato ho installato Linux Mint 19 xfce 64bit; funziona tutto compresa la webcam.

Ok, provo! Nel dubbio ho installato TLPUI per vedere se non mi si sospendesse la webcam con tlp. Non era nella blacklist! Così l'ho inserita. Ho riavviato ma niente, forse non centra niente questo?

Ho provato! Niente, stessi errori pure su Xubuntu. Stessi pure log tipo (no driver). Mi devo arrendere? Sarà hardware? Mi sembra davvero impossibile, però se può capitare mi fido lascio stare.

Ho ADDIRITTURA eseguito la diagnostica pre-boot di Dell e mi ha passato tutti i test webcam compresa. Da questo mi verrebbe da escludere un problema hardware. Come è possibile?

E' possibile che la tua webcam non sia supportata da Linux.
