problema stampa trattenuta (HP Photosmart C5180)

Prima di iniziare a reinstallare i driver, ho aperto synaptic, dove sono indicati ancora come installati i driver hplip 3.17.10 ...
Ma durante le nuove installazioni di quelli 3.18.4 da terminale, veniva sempre indicato che l´installer provvedeva a cancellare i driver precedenti, per evitare conflitti .......
Proveró a rimuovere prima da synaptic i vecchi driver e poi a reinstallare quelli nuovi, non vorrei che l´installer non riuscisse a cancellare del tutto i vecchi driver ....

E' inutile che stai sempre ad installare i drive, il problema, come già detto, è che il SO non vede la stampante e automaticamente ti dà errore quando li installi. Se continui incasini di più il SO con pacchetti che rimangono installati per metà ed altri che si installano per metà. A questo punto sembra che il problema sia il collegamento stampante/pc. Prova a cancellare tutte le stampanti, con la stampante non collegata. Riavvia il pc e collega la stampante. Domandona ha la possibilità di avviare una live? Se si avviala e collega la stampante cosi vediamo. Puoi provare anche, se disponibile, collegarla ad un altro pc e vedere se funziona, magari da un amico/amica. Cosi ci leviamo il dubbio che non sia la stampante. Prova anche a togliere la batteria e far funzionare il pc solo con l'alimentatore.

Ho provato a collegare la stampante ad un altro vecchio portatile da 17" (con cui funzionava bene in passato): la stampante non funziona mentre invece lo scanner funziona perfettamente in B/N e a colori con Simple Scan.

Proveró anche a reperire una live ...

Problema analogo(?) con multifunzione HP 2630: lo scanner funziona anche lanciato da hp-toolbox ma la stampante non si collega.
Poi, dopo che la stampante ha detto che non si collega non funziona più neanche lo scanner.

lsusb

naturalmente con stampante collegata e accesa. Con quale delle tre distribuzioni che usi si crea il problema?

Il problema si pone con Ubuntu 20.04, 20.10, 21.04 anche se con sfumature diverse.
qui sotto su 21.04 lsusb prima e dopo aver lanciato hp-toolbox e tentato una stampa.
PRIMA in lsusb vedo la mia stampante, POI scompare e riappare al prossimo boot!!!

Edit: stampante e altri 2 erano collegati su porte USB3 di un adattarore PCIe->USB, staccati e spostata la printer su USB della sk-madre. riproverò...

Ho fatto dei passi avanti: mi è venuto il dubbio che l´hub usb (dove ho attaccato 2 chiavette usb, Toshiba e Kingston) entrasse in conflitto con la stampante (che non la trovata con lsusb).
L´ho tolto ed ho rifatto lsusb: eureka !!! La stampante si vedeva, ma non stampava. Ho reinstallato i driver hplip 3.18.4 (la procedura che avevo effettuato non era andata a buon fine, non trovando la stampante).
Stavolta tutto o.k.
Ho provato a stampare e riesco benissimo, anche con quelle stampanti che hanno l´URI leggermente diverso:

usb://HP/Photosmart%20C5100%20series?serial=MY794Q61YX04MK&interface=1

Ho peró ancora problemi con lo scanner: con Simple Scan riesco solo a scansionare in B/N mentre a colori si blocca sia l´acquisizione che proprio lo scanner. Con Xsane non riesce a stampare né a colori, né grigio e neppure binario (le 3 opzioni presenti).


Ho fatto le stesse prove con l´altro vecchio portatile da 17", che usavo in passato e che aveva sempre stampato benissimo ( oggi pomeriggio invece non stampava perché non era disponibile il file "hpcups") e dopo aver installato da Synapticic "printer-driver-hpcups" e "hplip", sono riuscito a stampare bene anche con quello. Per lo scanner, ho gli stessi problemi con il portatile che uso attualmente (quello da 15").

Qualche idea per lo scanner ?

Ho provato a riavviare un paio di volte, sempre con l´hub usb collegato, sia a stampante accesa che spenta, per adesso sembra che facendo "lsusb" la stampante venga sempre vista ...
L´unica cosa che ho fatto è aver spostato l´hub su un´altra porta usb, dove ci sono meno probabilitá che venga toccato, evitando magari che non faccia bene contatto con la porta usb, rischiando di generare problemi alla stampante (non so altro a cui pensare ...).
Comunque adesso lo so, staró attento che l´hub usb non crei piú problemi ......

Se riusciamo a risolvere anche il mezzo problema dello scanner ... potrei finalmente mettere "Risolto" al post ...

@corradoventu - non è che anche tu hai qualche hub o altra periferica attaccata (casse acustiche, etc) che non "tocca" bene con la propria porta usb, finendo per farti vedere la stampante a volte sí e a volte no ?

Sembrava troppo bello .....
Ho acceso il computer e non stampava piú ... (lsusb non vedeva piú la stampante)
Ho staccato l´hub usb, ho staccato il mouse, ho staccato le casse e lasciato solo il cavo usb della stampante. L´ho provato su tutte le diverse porte usb, spengendo e riaccendendo la stampante e riavviando numerose volte. Ho cambiato il cavo usb con altri 2 cavi. Ogni volta rifacevo lsusb per vedere se vedeva la stampante e non la vedeva. Dopo diversi tentativi (almeno un dozzina), alla fine l´ha vista (con lsusb), ma non stampa né scansiona ...
Ho notato anche che quando accendo la stampante, non fa quasi mai quei "rumorini" che faceva sempre prima (tipo pulizia testine, etc), adesso arriva subito la schermata che indica che è pronta, senza rumorini, rullatine, etc.: sará un problema di hardware della stampante, che è morta definitivamente ?

Avevo dimenticato: dopo poco peró non l´ha nemmeno piú vista (con lsusb) .....
