quello dovrebbe essere un bug.....ti posto il mio xorg.conf (la sezione device) ; prova a modificare il tuo prendendo spunto dal mio

Cavoli quante modifiche!!!

Ora non me la sento di "stravolgere" xorg, anche perché ho notato che da quando ho messo "ati" il crash non si è ripresentato... tranne quando avevo aggiunto Option "AllowGLXWithComposite" "true"... Se il crash si ripresenta rimetterò mano ad xorg, per ora lascio il mondo come sta...

vado dai 5400 ai 6000 (con i driver proprietari andavo sui 7000 e più)

Torno a chiedere aiuto in ginocchio in quanto il crash si é ripresentato... :'(

Prima di apportare le tue modifiche ho tentato di riconfigurare xorg con il comando sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg seguendo la guida di ubuntu-it, così da averlo bello pulito e rimetterci le mani...

Ma ovviamente non è andato bene per nulla...
Ubuntu non si avvia più... La barra si carica fino alla fine e poi schermata nera... Anzi lo schermo si spegne proprio!!!

e non riesco a dare Ctrl+Alt+F1!!! Ho provato a darlo mentre la barra si caricava, ma ubuntu continua a caricare imperterrito...
Come faccio a ripristinare il vecchio xorg adesso???

RISOLTO!!! Ho fatto partire la live dal cd e da lì ho ripristinato xorg...

Premetto che ho reinstallato la Feisty da capo... ma i problemi rimangono...
Anzi mi sono accorto che in Xorg.0.log c'è un altro warning oltre a quelli relativi ad AIGLX...

Dopo che ho reinstallato Ubuntu Feisty sto cercando di ricompialre i Mesa da CVS, ma non ci riesco più!

ti manca questa libreria StdCmap.h. penso che comunque ti convenda installarti le librierie di svuluppo di X

Ciao...

I crash continuano imperterriti e le ho provate davvero tutte (configurazioni del kernel, modifiche a xorg.conf)...

Mi sono però accorto di una cosa alquanto strana... Se do il comando glxgears si sente uno strano fischio...

Inizialmente credevo provenisse dalle casse e non me ne sono preoccupato, ma oggi mi sono accorto che viene dalla scheda video!!!

Potrebbe essere un malfunzionamento hardware la causa di tutti questi problemi? ???

Ps Oggi ripulisco il pc, anche se non credo di poter risolvere molto...

Attendendo la risposta al precedente post, faccio un'altra domanda...

Una volta ho avviato glxgears e mi ha dato un errore riguardo l'opzione "gart size" e così l'ho impostata su 64 nella sezione device di xorg...

Poi navigando in internet ho visto che si può impostare qualcosa sul bios, ma sul mio non ho trovato niente, anche perché questa sembra essere un'opzione per schede AGP, mentre la mia scheda è PCIExpress...

Devo fare qualcosa, o va bene come ho fatto??? ??? Grazie ancora...

Per caso, ma non vorrei sparar cavolate, non è che devo aggiungere la voce VideoRam nella sezione device e forzare il driver a usare tutta la memoria video a disposizione?

A me compiz e beryl funzionano da quello che vedi è molto scarno senza troppe modifiche

Anche il mio è bello scarno... Gli ho dato una ripulita da tante opzioni che ho scoperto non mi servivano...

Solo che ho questi fastidiosissimi crash e non riesco a capire da casa dipendono, così le provo un po' tutte...

Ora non sono a casa, ma appena torno faccio un confronto tra gli xorg e vedo... Grazie
